In any type of emergency, natural disaster, or out of the ordinary situation, it is important for a functioning civil society to have information provided to them that is largely accurate and informative information to allow the ability to make rational decisions for themselves.
Our modern news media, for the most part, have abandoned their role of providing (as any journalism student is/or was once taught) the “five Ws” (who, what, where, when, why), and instead have become corrupt purveyors of opinion, false news, and conspiracy theories masqueraded as “objective news.” It has become worse during the recent COVID-19 outbreak, as the media have engaged in the “fake news” they’ve regularly been called out for over the last four years: a selective reporting of facts, studies, and misquotes (especially from President Donald Trump) that result in pessimism and panic.
Take yesterday, at the President’s Coronavirus Task Force briefing, as the Corrupt Media has been attacking the President for claiming that people affected with COVID-19 can inject themselves or drink bleach to kill the virus.
But this is not true (Legal Insurrection)
Then Trump said this (emphasis mine):
So, I’m going to ask Bill a question that probably some of you are thinking of if you’re totally into that world, which I find to be very interesting. So, supposing when we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light, and I think you said that hasn’t been checked, but you’re going to test it. And then I said supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you’re going to test that too. Sounds interesting. And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that, so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me. So, we’ll see, but the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute. That’s pretty powerful.
If Trump did not include the “or almost a cleaning” then yes I could see how people would think he meant an actual injection. Even then, come on, people. Use your freaking brain.
But ABC News reporter Jon Karl asked Bryan if there is any “scenario that could be injected into a person.”
Of course, Bryan said they “don’t do that within that lab at our labs.”
Trump then clarified his remarks because people are stupid:
“It wouldn’t be through injections, you’re talking about almost a cleaning and sterilization of an area. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t work, but it certainly has a big affect if it’s on a stationary object.”
Sound familiar? It should. Remember when the same media blamed the President for the death of an Arizona man for drinking fish tankcleaner, after Trump had mentioned chloroquine as a “game changer” in treating the virus? The problem is, the President didn’t tell people to drink fish tank cleaner, and, there were other facts in the story that were only uncovered by others (noted here at Red State). But the Corrupt Media wasn’t interested, they did their damage and now it was time for them to move onto other dastardly deeds.
Such as with the prescriptions of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine drugs, which Democrats in some areas are forbidding doctors to prescribe and the media continues to attack with distorted information (TheFederalist).
In a Facebook post, the New York Times wrote the two anti-malaria drugs can cause dangerous side effects and should be used cautiously, yet Trump is touting the drugs.
“Breaking News: The FDA warned that two anti-malaria drugs can cause dangerous side effects and should be used cautiously. President Donald J. Trump has touted the drugs,” the post reads.
…What the newly released FDA memo actually says is that they are reiterating that the side effects for coronavirus patients who take hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine are the exact same for patients who take the drugs to treat malaria, lupus, or rheumatoid arthritis. So even though the drugs are FDA-approved for treating malaria, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis, but not yet FDA-approved for treating COVID-19, the potential side effects for all of the above types of patients are the same.
Similarly, contrast the way the Corrupt Media has attacked the (Republican) governors of South Dakota and Georgia for beginning the reopening of businesses in their states to the way the media covers (with a tear in their eye) government workers losing pay during a government shut down. But when small business owners or private sector employees are losing their jobs, they are attacked by the media and liberal politicians like Andrew the Pius II Cuomo.
Or, early in the COVID-19 crisis when Fake News CNN attackedthe President as a bigot because his coronavirus task force wasn’t too diverse enough.
Or when the NY Times misquoted the President, claiming he told state governors they were “on their own?”
The media have abused their First Amendment freedom of the press in a manner that is harming America, especially in the middle of a public health crisis. They have spent the last three-and-a-half years crying “WOLF!” over a fifth-rate conspiracy theory about Trump/Russia collusion to rig the 2016 Election. Then it was Ukraine, then they made that a phony constitutional crisis to push impeachment. Then they went from downplaying COVID-19 to cheering the falling stock market and using the crisis as another way to divide and sow mistrust of the President, instead of passing along information in a cautious and respectful manner.
