Stokes took offense at the rioters and looters being called "thugs" (because they were acting like thugs), instead trying to claim they had been "marginalized." But when Burnett pressed Stokes, he equated the use of the word "thug" to a racial dog whistle.
BURNETT: "How does that justify what they did? I mean that's a sense of right and wrong. You know it's wrong to steal and burn down a CVS and an old persons' home, I mean, come on!"
STOKES: "Come on? So calling them thugs? Just call them niggers. Just call them niggers."Isn't this really what the problem is? Number one, that too many people, especially liberal, race-baiting politicans, want to rationalize the thuggish behavior of these protesters, and then, when you challenge them, they immediately want to accuse you of being a racist.
No wonder what happened last night occured, especially when you keep electing these racial bombthrowers like Carl Stokes and Elijah Cummings to office, who do nothing to solve the problems in their communities.
