Seventeen states, led by Texas Attorney General and Governor-elect Greg Abbott, are suing the Obama administration over the president's recent executive actions on immigration.
Abbott, the Republican elected to succeed outgoing Gov. Rick Perry next year, has promised to bring the lawsuit since Obama announced his executive actions last month.
The coalition of states involved in the suit includes: Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Here's part of Abbott's statement on the Texas Attorney General's website:
Obama's action is tantamount to treason, because he is not only violating his oath of office, he is siding with non-citizens who have broken U.S. immigration law that only Congress can make.“The President’s unilateral executive action tramples the U.S. Constitution’s Take Care Clause and federal law. The Constitution’s Take Care Clause limits the President’s power and ensures that he will faithfully execute Congress’s laws – not rewrite them under the guise of ‘prosecutorial discretion.’ The Department of Homeland Security’s directive was issued without following the Administrative Procedure Act’s rulemaking guidelines and is nothing but an unlawfully adopted legislative rule: an executive decree that requires federal agencies to award legal benefits to individuals whose conduct contradicts the priorities of Congress.“The President is abdicating his responsibility to faithfully enforce laws that were duly enacted by Congress and attempting to rewrite immigration laws, which he has no authority to do – something the President himself has previously admitted. President Obama’s actions violate the Take Care Clause of the U.S. Constitution and the Administrative Procedure Act, which were intended to protect against this sort of executive disregard of the separation of powers.”
But Obama is not the only traitor to this nation. John Boehner, Mitch McConnell and every RINO Republican who refuses to defund this unconstitutional act is just as much, if not an even bigger, traitor to this nation.
National Review Online:
Senate Republicans had no appetite for discussing how to thwart President Obama’s executive orders on immigration during the conference’s weekly lunch, according to a source familiar with the meeting.
Senator Mike Lee (R., Utah) and Senator David Vitter (R., La.) tried to broach the topic, but were ignored.
“At different times, Lee and Vitter stood up and tried to begin a discussion about what the plan was and asked leadership about what their strategy was to deal with the spending bill and respond to Obama executive amnesty, and the reply was always an effort to try to change the subject to the ozone rule from the EPA or some other issue, and it was just bizarre,” the source said.Breitbart:
With House conservatives wanting to keep the pressure on Barack Obama given his end run of the political process when it comes to illegal immigration, reports indicate Republican House Speaker John Boehner may be considering doing the un-thinkable -- abandoning House conservatives to do a deal with Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi to keep the government open long-term.
Hardline conservatives who have caused problems for leaders for years were not falling in line. These conservatives estimate their ranks are 30 to 40, enough to derail a vote.
That swelling Republican opposition gives Pelosi and her down-in-the-dumps House Democrats some unexpected power: the ability to rescue Boehner’s Republican Conference as Democrats have again and again in the big fights of the past three years.
If Boehner cuts that deal, it will serve as a warning that Boehner intends to do precisely as some have predicted, abandon House Conservatives next year and rely on moderates and Democrats to govern weakly, to the extent he can. That stands in stark contrast to Democrats and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi who seemed to relish shoving bills like ObamaCare down America's throat, GOP opposition be damned. So John Boehner is full of it. One moment he saying how Obama's actions are unacceptable, then the next moment, he's plotting with the enemy to fund this treason, because Karl Rove and the rest of the Bushies running the GOP don't have the stomach for a fight (unless it's beating up on conservatives or Tea Party members).
Well maybe there needs to be enough constituent pressure to topple Boehner. America needs a leader against this dictator in the Oval Office. Clearly, Boehner (from rumours around DC) is too impaired to fit the bill.
