Because he has nothing new to say, if you read these early excerpts from his speech.
“So tonight, with a new Iraqi government in place, and following consultations with allies abroad and Congress at home, I can announce that America will lead a broad coalition to roll back this terrorist threat. Our objective is clear: we will degrade, and ultimately destroy, ISIL through a comprehensive and sustained counter-terrorism strategy.”You can tell here how not serious Obama is, by breaking the one rule of warfare....telling your enemy what you won't do. But I could tell Obama wasn't serious about ISIS because he couldn't get off the golf course while they were on the run terrorizing Iraq with beheadings, crucifixions, and mass killings. For that matter, we know now he was warned about the threat for a year and yet was out to lunch.
“But I want the American people to understand how this effort will be different from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It will not involve American combat troops fighting on foreign soil. This counter-terrorism campaign will be waged through a steady, relentless effort to take out ISIL wherever they exist using our air power and our support for partner forces on the ground. This strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us, while supporting partners on the front lines, is one that we have successfully pursued in Yemen and Somalia for years.”
Obama is more serious about fighting Republicans, conservatives, the Tea Party, anyone who disagrees with him, than he is about the threat that attacked this nation twice on this day tomorrow--in 2001 on American soil, and in 2012 in Benghazi, Libya.
Obama refuses to name the ideology behind these attacks, as well as ISIS...Islamfascism and how Islamists seek a world-wide Islamic Caliphate. "Workplace violence," "man-caused disasters," blaming a YouTube video, whatever. Obama and the liberal Democrats are too afraid to confront Islamists who support and preach terrorism because of "political correctness."
So how did those apology tours go? All the apologist attitude toward this Islamic world (the Cairo speech by Obama). All the overtones of peace, understanding and goodwill. The withdrawal from what he and the liberals called "Bush's war. What did that get us?
The answer is, that the threat by those who attacked us in 2001 and 2012 didn't go away. It has gotten worse. And for all the cries of "Never forget," how many think tomorrow is a day to mow your neighbor's lawn, thanks to how this President and his Party of Treason co opted this sacred day into a Day of Service?
Which is why, unlike you and I, too much of our so-called leadership are asleep, just as they were on 9/10/2001.
