House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says she sees little hope for comprehensive immigration reform this year.
The California Democrat said following Saturday's visit to a Border Patrol facility in Brownsville where unaccompanied children are being held that she was more optimistic a few days ago. She said Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner gives little reason to be hopeful now, but didn't elaborate.
More than 52,000 unaccompanied children, most from Central America, have been apprehended entering the U.S. illegally since October. It has created what President Barack Obama called an "urgent humanitarian situation."
Pelosi said Congress needs to put politics aside in addressing the child immigrants, adding that, "the fact is these are children, children and families. We have a moral responsibility to address this in a dignified way."Who wants to hear about "morals" and doing something "for the children" from one of the biggest proponents of abortion on demand? Pelosi is the biggest hypocrite out there. Not only are she and other Democrats agitating for amnesty as a way to increase Democrat voter rolls, she has a business interest as well.
Pelosi – who owns non-union vineyards in Napa Valley where grape-picking depends chiefly on the availability of cheap foreign labor – is doing everything she can to help open the floodgates to more illegal immigration. And she wants the American taxpayers to pay their way. As even more proof of this than I previously reported, Pelosi does not want employers like her to be required to pay the cost of illegal aliens’ hospital care. She voted against a bill that would make employers liable for the reimbursements if an undocumented employee seeks medical attention. And she voted in favor of rewarding illegal aliens from Mexico with Social Security benefits. And Pelosi's dastardly Party of Treason (like Bob Menendez and that ambulance chaser ChuckU Schumer) are acting like hostage takers, tthreatening the feckless House GOP that if they don't do something about amnesty soon, Obama will once again act as a dicktator.
The Obama administration is "not bluffing" in its intent to take executive action on immigration policy if House Republicans don't act soon, top Democratic leaders warned Thursday.
President Obama has delayed any potential changes to his deportation policy to allow House GOP leaders time to bring legislation to the floor this summer. But if the Republicans don't act in July, the Democrats say, unilateral changes by Obama are inevitable.
"We're at the end of the line," Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) said Thursday during a press briefing in the Capitol. "We're not bluffing by setting a legislative deadline for them to act.
"Their first job is to govern," Menendez added, "and in the absence of governing, then you see executive actions."
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) piled on. Noting that a year has passed since the Senate passed a sweeping immigration reform bill with broad bipartisan support, he urged House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to bring a similar bill to the floor.
"I don't know how much more time he thinks he needs, but I hope that Speaker Boehner will speak up today," Durbin said. "And if he does not, the president will borrow the power that is needed to solve the problems of immigration."
The remarks come a day after Boehner announced his intent to push legislation allowing the House to sue Obama for what the Republicans say is a habitual inclination to overstep his constitutional authority.
Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.), the third-ranking Democrat in the upper chamber, said Boehner and other Republican critics of Obama's executive actions have "a very good antidote" for their fears: "Put a bill on the floor."
"He's, like, shooting his parents and then throwing himself on the mercy of the court as an orphan," Schumer said. "Pass a bill, and that won't happen.
"If they don't bring any bill to the floor, the president has no choice — on a humanitarian basis and on a policy basis — to act where he can on his own," Schumer added.Menendez is a corrupt scumbag who was re-elected in 2012 despite the fact he was caught up in a sex scandal with prostitutes from the Dominican Republic, one of whom may have been underage.
Meanwhile, Border Patrol agents in the Valley are frustrated, one even says the US government has become part of the smuggling business (CNSNews).
Albert Spratte, the sergeant-at-arms of the National Border Patrol Council, Local 3307 in the Rio Grande Valley, said the Obama administration is largely to blame for waves of illegal immigrants that have been flooding the Southwest U.S. border since February, saying the government opened the door for the crisis by making it “clear they’re not going to deport people.”
Spratte, who was speaking with CNSNews.com as a representative of the union, further said “we don’t have control of the border,” and if the Obama administration claims it is not in effect giving amnesty to the illegals, then “don’t believe them.”
Also, by allowing so many young illegal aliens to be released into this country, “the U.S. government has become a part of the smuggling business,” he said.
“This is Washington’s problem to fix. This administration has made it pretty clear they’re not going to deport people, with things like the DREAM Act and all that,” Spratte told CNSNews.com during an interview on June 22 in McAllen, Texas, currently the busiest zone of the Rio Grande Valley Sector of the U.S.-Mexico border.
“It used to be that if you got caught, we sent you back. Now we don’t do that,” he said. “The people in Central America, they’ve heard we aren’t sending people back. Word’s gotten around. When these people come up to us and turn themselves over, that’s what they tell us. So we’ve created a suction now.The Border Patrol agent also says this influx of aliens has taken them away from other areas, like drug enforcement.
“The majority of agents believe more narcotics are getting away because we’re too busy dealing with this crisis,” he said. “And we know al Qaida has talked about bringing things like small pox across the border, so what are we not catching? We don’t know.”
Disease is also becoming a problem, Spratte said, citing cases of polio, scabies, leprosy and even rabies that have been reported.
“Chicken pox, small pox, H1N1, who knows,” Spratte said.
“The American people don’t realize how bad this is, but they’re going to when it becomes a problem where they live,” he said. “These people are being sent into other places in the U.S., so these diseases could end up in your backyard.”This is all out of the Cloward-Piven handbook....create a crisis.
