He attacks efforts to defund Obamacare on Monday while the shooting at the Navy Yard in DC was going on, and this afternoon, he used his appearance at their memorial service as a soapbox for his attack on the Second Amendment (Associated with Obama Press).
Reprising his role of the nation's consoler in chief (gag me, M.I.M.) after yet another mass shooting, Obama said Americans should honor the victims of last Monday's shooting by insisting on a change in gun laws. "It ought to obsess us," Obama said.
"Sometimes I fear there is a creeping resignation that these tragedies are just somehow the way it is, that this is somehow the new normal. We cannot accept this," Obama said.
He said no other advanced nation endures the kind of gun violence seen in the United States, and blamed mass shootings in America on laws that fail "to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and dangerous people."
"What's different in America is it's easy to get your hands on a gun," he said. He acknowledged "the politics are difficult," a lesson he learned after failing to get expanded background checks for gun buyers through the Democratic-controlled Senate this spring.
"And that's sometimes where the resignation comes from: the sense that our politics are frozen and that nothing will change. Well, I cannot accept that," Obama said. "By now, though, it should be clear that the change we need will not come from Washington, even when tragedy strikes Washington. Change will come the only way it ever has come, and that's from the American people."
Here's the speech (get the barf bag ready if you watch it):
The corrupt liberal mayor of DC, Vincent Gray, did the same thing.
Of course, facts don't matter when you challenge liberals who are driven by emotion. Never mind that DC, before its handgun ban was overturned by the Supreme Court, had one of the highest gun murder rates in the nation. Never mind that "Gun Free Zones" at our military bases (thanks to the regime of Billy Clinton) did not stop this killing, nor Fort Hood.
This is supposed to be a memorial to honor the dead. It should not become a political rally.
And how hypocritical is it that Richard Milhous Obama wants to prey on these tragedies, like a buzzard, to disarm law abiding Americans while he wants to give arms to al-Queda rebels in Syria and his InJustice Department allows guns to fall in the hands of Mexican drug cartels.
Obama's appearance was un-Presidential, and was all about him and his political agenda, instead of those lives lost by this horrible act.
