I got this one from OFA's Jon Carson earlier today.
Friend --So the same liberals who on one hand lecture us about civility out one side of their mouth will resort to name-calling and personal attacks, like calling the American people who believe in the Second Amendment "bullies" or members of some well-funded lobby.
The gun lobby is pretty happy with itself.
They succeeded in scaring members of Congress into voting against something that 90 percent of Americans -- and 74 percent of NRA members -- support.
They like it the way things are, where the most powerful interest groups in Washington get to override the voices of millions of Americans.
OFA will be the grassroots movement that counteracts that. We're going to show members of Congress that, if you stand up to the special interests, the people in your districts will be right there to get your back.
Our petition to Congress is going to the printers at midnight tonight. It'd be a real shame if it didn't have your name on it, wouldn't it?
We'll never be as deep-pocketed or as well-connected as the gun lobby.
What we have is better. It's the voices of real Americans who are standing up and saying they've seen enough of gun violence tearing apart communities like Newtown and Tucson and Aurora and Chicago.
Together, we're committing to keep fighting for this issue until something is done. We will be heard -- and it's time for our lawmakers in Washington to find their courage to stand up to a political bully.
Add your name to OFA's petition to congressional leaders before midnight to demand that they take action to reduce gun violence:
Well, Mister Carson, maybe you should meet the so-called "gun lobby."
The NRA's annual convention was held in Houston this past weekend and saw many great speakers. Texas Senator Ted Cruz and rock legend Ted Nugent were two of the speakers. Also, Sarah Palin showed just how powerful she is because she can do something like pick up a can of chewing tobacco (like she did a Big Gulp at CPAC) and cause liberal heads to explode.
But Wayne LaPierre gave a speech that was pure genius. Not only did he let put the liberal statists on notice that we not only don't want to surrender our guns, but our God-given freedom, but he introduced the media and those watching to what Obama's astroturf group slanders as "the gun lobby." (go to about 6:00 in the video below.
You see that Jon Carson? Obama? Feinstein? Upchuck Schumer, that Brooklyn ambulance chaser? Joe Manchin, the fair-weathered Second Amendment advocate? The "gun-lobby" is made up of policemen, firemen, teachers, doctors, stay-at-home moms, students, veterans, law-abiding citizens from all walks of life.
When you attack the "gun lobby," you're not attacking some group of well-funded lobbyists on K Street.
Instead, you're attacking your neighbors, the person in the line next to you at the store, on the bus, or the train, or someone in your circle.
To put it simply, you're attacking your fellow Americans, the people who go out everyday and not only make this nation work, but maker her great.
