Many of us had been at CPAC just a couple of weeks earlier, saw the trailer for the upcoming "Hating Breitbart" documentary, witnessed his last major speech, and saw him later getting in the faces of the Occupy squatters who showed up outside the hotel to protest CPAC (being paid $60 by their unions, I must add). Little did we know that it would be the last time we saw him.
No one can replace Andrew Breitbart, but the best way we can continue to remember him is to take his bold, fighting spirit and Be Breitbart. Via, Twitter, or if you have a blog, if you're at a Tea Party, a town hall or some other event....you can be part of the New Media revolution. More importantly, it is also important to take back the popular culture from the Left. If you read (and if you haven't yet, you should) his book "Righteous Indignation" he stresses how important it is to win the culture.
In honor of Andrew Breitbart's memory, I'm posting video I took at the 9/12 Rally in Washington DC on September 12, 2010.
In this video, he mentions how that event occurred on the one year anniversary of the launch of Big Government with the ACORN expose videos. He addressed the members of the Legacy Media who were there:
As your profits are going down as were turning to other channels and going to the Internet where there’s free and open debate, Something really strange happened on the way to the forum. You became the media. You took their jobs because they wouldn’t do their jobs. How do I know that? Because my media empire is YOU! You’re the ones who write for me. I don’t have a private jet. I don’t have a house out on Montauk on Long Island. I’ve got two car payments. I’ve got a mortgage I can’t afford, and I want to save the country with you. That is what we do. We are a citizen journalism army, and we are going to take this country back.”So, in honor of Andrew Breitbart, lets continue fighting to take this country back.
