You know, those bleeding hearts you see on the road everyday with their "Coexist" bumper stickers. They're so tolerant and peaceful, except when it comes to people who might be Conservatives, Bible-believing Christians, or someone who believes in traditional values.
The new target? Chick-fil-A, because the owner of the fast food chain believes in the idea of the traditional family (Human Events).
It appears that CNN relied on the sources that sparked that “social media wildfire” instead of reading the Cathy interview themselves, because Terry Mattingly at GetReligion.org notes that during the interview in question, the Chick-fil-A president did not directly address the subject of gay marriage at all. He said “guilty as charged” when asked about support for the traditional family, extended by Chick-fil-A through a foundation called WinShape (“shaping people to be winners.”) Their purpose is to strengthen traditional families in every way, including keeping parents together to raise their children.
There’s not much doubt, even from the context of this single interview, that Cathy is referring to the union of husbands, wives, and children when he discusses support for the traditional family, but that’s not the same thing as condemning anyone.
As it happens, Cathy has directly addressed the topic of gay marriage recently, when he said during a radio interview: “I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.’ I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think we can try to define what marriage is all about.”
...Gay marriage is one of those agonizing social issues in which the two sides do not remotely agree on the terms of the debate. Those who share Cathy’s beliefs find it impossible to extend “marriage” to include same-sex relationships without altering the definition of marriage, which inherently requires a man and a woman. Same-sex marriage proponents of good will disagree, arguing that the sex of the participants is not relevant to the importance and power of the institution. It’s possible to hold either of these positions without being motivated by bigotry.
Of course, the name of the game being played against Chick-fil-A involves ending the discussion, by ruling one side of this important social debate completely out of order, and dismissing their beliefs as unworthy of respect. All resistance to gay marriage is instantly transmuted into personal hatred of gay people. On the other hand, criticism of traditional marriage proponents cannot be viewed as hateful, no matter how angrily it might be expressed. It’s a rigged heads-we-win, tails-you-lose game.
Cathy isn’t allowed to encourage reverence and support for the traditional family, or even worse, put his money where his mouth is. He’s not allowed to say that he finds moral or practical value in the time-honored definition of marriage, without feeling animosity towards gay people. His ideas and principles are automatic thought crimes, no matter how gently and constructively they might be presented.
“The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect – regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender,” the company declared in a statement. “Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.” But as thought crime perpetrators, they will be judged incapable of expressing such high-minded sentiments with sincerity.
The vile, mentally ill Roseanne Barr tweeted:
anyone who eats Shit Fil-A deserves to get the cancer that is sure to come from eating antibiotic filled tortured chickens 4Christ
Yeah, the same Roseanne Barr who dressed as Hitler and cooked "Jews" as cookies.
Didn't I say she was mentally ill?
But it has gone even further. The Mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino as well as Chicago Mayor (and former Obama Regime chief of staff) Rahm "Dead Fish" Emanuel, don't want Chick-fil-A in their cities. This while Chicago's murder rate spirals out of control. As Ben Shapiro at Breitbart wrote:
Chick-Fil-A has not turned away a single gay customer because the customer was gay. Chick-Fil-A has not discriminated against either employees or customers. But Democrats want to shut them down anyway, because they don’t stay silent on the issue of same-sex marriage. Dan Savage, founder of the Obama-endorsed It Gets Better anti-bullying campaign, has already taken to Twitter to try to define the term “Chick-Fil-A” as a form of anal sex – just as he did with Rick Warren and Rick Santorum when they failed to endorse same-sex marriage. This is bullying at its worst. And it shows the desperation of Democrats who will do anything – anything – to misdirect public attention from their dramatic policy ineptitude.
This is dangerous, and unconstitutional. It is one thing for a private individual to decide where they want to do business, but it is an attack on the First Amendment liberals claim to be such champions of when they seek to punish business owners for their own personal beliefs. History has shown how dangerous regimes have done similar atrocities.
But there's more at work here. Sister Toldjah wrote:
(Disgraced former New York Attorney General Elliot) SpitzerSpitzer is saying here is that if, as a Christian, you’ve correctly interpreted the Bible to understand that God promotes man/woman couples and disapproves of homosexuality, then you deserve to lose business. He’s also stated categorically that any Christian who believes this also thinks gays are “second class citizens” who “don’t deserve the same rights” as straights.
While it’s true that some misguided Christians do indeed, unfortunately, “hate gays” rather than taking the correct attitude that you are to “love the sinner and hate the sin” (as we are supposed to do with ALL sinners, since we are all sinners ourselves), there are many more who don’t “hate gays” at all but who DO believe that the definition of marriage should be that it consists of one man and won woman only. Some Christians base their beliefs solely on Biblical scripture (while God is not tolerant of any sin at all, the Bible makes it clear that He is the judge when it comes to sin, not anyone here on Earth). Others use secular arguments to justify their position. And others base it on a mixture of both. But the important thing to note here is that it is a non-violent religious belief grounded in scripture and for the Cathy family of Chick-fil-A to change their stance on the issue in order to become sufficiently “tolerant” to Spitzer and the liberal Gay Gestapo (and to avoid further political blackmail, which I’ll get into in a minute) would mean violating their religious principles.
Ironically enough, it was Spitzer himself who said two years ago that religious intolerance had no place in a modern American society …. but in this instance he was talking about the controversial “Ground Zero mosque” in a broad-based discussion on so-called “Islamophobia” in general.
I believe this is nothing more than liberals and the Gay Gestapo engaging in the same bigotry and bullying they always claim to condemn. I mean, seriously, look at the hostility one will get if they claim they are a Christian and believe in the idea of traditional marriage. You won't get the "tolerance" liberals claim to have a monopoly of, since they are intolerant of any form of organized religion (except Islam, of course, never mind Islam mandates outright intolerance and death towards gays) because the idea of a Higher Being conflicts with the concept of Statism, where there can be no higher authority than The State.
So, I'm going to start a Wednesday tradition for the time being. Because of the liberals' intolerance towards a Christian owned business and the practice of their First Amendment right, I went to Chick-fil-A this afternoon. Feel free to do the same, if you are so inclined.
Hey Roseanne, Rahm, Mayor Menino and all you liberals suffering from Christophobia....this is for you!
