Why Hate Crime Laws Should Be Abolished...Unequal Protection Under The Law

A 24 year old soldier was beaten by thugs, one of whom was wearing a "hoodie", in Tampa FL the other night (video via This Ain't Hell).

In Norfolk, VA, two employees of the local newspaper were severly beaten. In Mobile, Al a man was assualted by a group of youths, and a 78 year old man was beaten by gang in Toledo, OH.

What do all these instances have in common? The victims were white, the gang attackers were black, who (in some cases) said the assaults were retribution for the Trayvon Martin shooting, and no "hate crime" charges were filed against any of the perpitrators.

However, in Sanford, FL, George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch guard who shot and killed Martin may be charged with a hate crime and could receive the death penalty (WFTV).

WFTV has learned charges against George Zimmerman could be getting more serious.

State prosecutors said Zimmerman, a neighborhood watchman, profiled and stalked 17-year-old Trayvon Martin before killing him, so the FBI is now looking into charging him with a hate crime.

Zimmerman admitted to killing Martin in February during a confrontation. However, he claims the shooting was in self-defense. He's facing a second-degree murder charge, which carries a maximum possible sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. But if Zimmerman is charged and found guilty of a federal hate crime involving murder, he could face the death penalty.

FBI investigators are actively questioning witnesses in the retreat at the Twin Lakes neighborhood, seeking evidence for a possible federal hate crime charge.

Martin was unarmed when he was shot to death, police said, and some accuse Zimmerman of targeting the teenager solely because of the color of his skin.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said federal prosecutors would have to prove the hate crime to charge Zimmerman, though.

“What the government would have to prove is that Mr. Zimmerman acted out of hatred toward African-Americans. That's why he came into contact with him. That's why he shot and killed him," Sheaffer said.

Never mind Zimmerman is part hispanic, who even has black family members. And ignore the fact that Zimmerman did not use the racial slur "coons," as alleged by liberals who heard the police tapes.

And who oversees the FBI? The Department of InJustice and Eric Holder. You know him. Obama's race-obsessed Attorney General who drops a case in which the black KKK known as the New Black Panthers were standing outside a Philadelphia voting place, telling the "crackers" they kept from voting that they were about to be ruled by the black man. Yeah, the same Eric Holder who just recently praised Al "Resist We Much" Sharpton at his National Action Network convention, regardless of the fact that Sharpton and his bullhorn were in Sanford, FL using threatening language if no arrests were made in the Martin shooting.

So where is the "equal protection" as mentioned in the 14th Amendment with hate crime laws? I don't see it being used. What I'm seeing instead is that certain groups can be charged with hate crimes, while others groups are exempt from these "laws" that were created by liberals under the guise of poitical correctness.

It's another example of how the highest law enforcement officer is not looking at law enforcement in a color-blind manner.

Looks like there's more evidence to the claim that Martin attacked Zimmerman (WFTV).

WFTV has learned that the medical examiner found two injuries on Martin’s body: The fatal gunshot wound and broken skin on his knuckles.

When you compare Trayvon’s non-fatal injury with Zimmerman's bloody head wounds, the autopsy evidence is better for the defense, Sheaffer said.

“It goes along with Zimmerman's story that he acted in self-defense, because he was getting beaten up by Trayvon Martin,” Sheaffer said.

The injury to Martin’s knuckle also fits with Zimmerman's story that before he shot and killed Martin, Martin had broken his nose and knocked him to the ground, slamming his head on the sidewalk.
