At a closed-to-the-press Florida fundraiser Sunday night at which his remarks were overheard by some reporters standing outside, Mitt Romney was asked about his media strategy for the general election campaign. According to reports in the Wall Street Journal and MSNBC, Romney said his campaign has been treated well by Fox News but that he needs to expand his audience beyond the leading cable news channel.
“Fox is watched by the true believers,” Romney told donors, according to the Wall Street Journal. “We need to get the independents and the women.”
That's not all of Romney's problem stemming from this Florida fundraiser. The Other McCain has links to articles where Mittens is detailing deductions he wants to cut for wealthy Americans (playing the class warfare card), and is even prematurely selling access to his Inaugural. Not only that, Taylor Marsh also adds that Romney is floating a GOP "Dream Act" (read: amnesty) in order to woo Hispanics.
All from the same guy who beat up on Texas Governor Rick Perry for creating "magnets" for illegal aliens.
If you ask me, Mittens is taking those he sees as the "true believers" for granted, following the Rovian idea that conservatives have nowhere else to go.
Which is why he hasn't won my vote yet. And yes America, Newt is still out there, in case you haven't voted in a primary (and Rick Santorum, maybe you should switch your delegates to Newt).
If anything, the last few days have shown Ann Romney does a better job of uniting the GOP than her husband.
