Marin County Hippies Protest War On Terror (Again), Silent On Obama's Illegal War In Libya

It wouldn't be an anti-American rally in Marin County without some aging hippie musician who played Woodstock and a Vietnam-era draft dodger speaking at an event hosted by the most far-Left lunatic in Congress to protest "Bush's Wars" in Afghanistan and Iraq, aka "The War on Terror" (or in the age of Obama, "Overseas Contingency Operations").

The Marin IJ's music crirtic (shows how much "journalism" is practiced at that communist rag) wrote this following article on the hippie gathering.

Barry Melton, former lead guitarist for Country Joe and the Fish, whose biggest hit, "I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-to-Die Rag," became an anthem of the anti-war movement in the '60s, looked out at a small crowd of peace activists in downtown San Rafael on Saturday and said with a nostalgic smile, "This is the first rally like this I've been to in a while."

A recently retired Yolo County Public Defender, Melton and Joe McDonald (note: "Country" Joe McDonald was named after Joseph Stalin) became counter culture icons for their musical protests against the Vietnam War in the '60s and '70s.

"It's not like the topic still isn't a current one," he observed on Saturday, standing beside a stage set up in San Rafael's City Plaza. "On the hopeful side, they (the federal government) might run out of enough money to do all this craziness."

Melton was among the progressive luminaries who appeared at "It's Time for Peace," a rally hosted by Rep. Lynn Woolsey, D-Petaluma.

...Marin author David Harris, a former Stanford University student body president who served a federal prison term for refusing to serve in the military during the Vietnam War (read: draft dodger), said from the stage:

"How sweet is it to live some place where your congressperson calls for peace demonstrations rather than be the object of them?"

He earned the loudest ovations of the day when he read an open letter to President Obama, beseeching him to bring home all U.S. troops from Afghanistan and Iraq, calling their presence a disaster."

"In case you've forgotten, we're the reason you got through Iowa in the first place," he said, referring to Obama's pivotal Iowa victory during the Democratic primary. "We deserve better than this. And if you're not smart enough to drop your George Bush costume and act like the sensible, intelligent man we expected you would be, then we're going to have to go out and find a president who is."

About 200 people, many of them from peace and justice and veterans organizations (sic) from Marin and Sonoma counties, attended the event. Many speakers decried the "permanent" state of war the country has been in since the Gulf War more than 20 years ago.

Woolsey, one of the most vocal anti-war members in Congress, told the crowd, "We've been at war now for almost 10 years straight. I have five beautiful grandchildren. Two of them are here today, and not one of them can remember a time when our nation wasn't at war. These wars are degrading, dehumanizing, and we must oppose them fearlessly."
Well, we can thank Lynn Woolsey and all the members of the Party of Treason (aka Democrats) who did their best to hamstring the military and the then Commander in Chief George W. Bush, in fighting wars that were authorized by Congress but were made partisan issues by Democrats.

I noted that the so-called "tolerant Left" who begrudge censorship practiced some censoring of opinions they didn't like.

Early in the event, an older man climbed out of a motorized wheelchair, stepped to the microphone and managed to shout, "I believe in war," before he was peacefully removed from the stage by organizers. Otherwise, the event was without incident.
I'm sure the "veterans organizations" in attendance were far-Left groups like Veterans for Peace (aka Geezers Sitting on Their Hands) or the remnants of Iraq Veterans (Who Didn't Serve There) Against the War, along with the drug addled socialists of the Marin Appeasement & InJustice Coalition, who are no doubt still mourning the death of Osama bin Laden, whom they saluted with a book club on their website.

But here lies the hypocrisy of these idiot hippies. Did anyone at this rally once state opposition to the intervention in Libya? Did all those who falsely labeled Iraq an "illegal war" say the same about Libya? Why hasn't Lynn Woolsey spoken out as forcefully about Libya as she did about Iraq and Afghanistan (she voted for authorizing force after 9/11, until the Appeasement & InJustice Crowd whipped her back in goosestep to their agenda). Will Lynn Woolsey demand Obama get authorization for Obama's kinetic action in Libya or will she be silent, as it is a case of Bush's Wars B-a-a-a-a-a-a-d, Obama's Wars g-o-o-o-o-o-d?

Oh well, it's just one more excuse for a bunch of gray-haired ponytail types in their Birkenstocks to act like they're still 20 again, man.  Showing that hippies never grew up.  They're the people who 40 years later just talk about what they did in high school or college, because they've done nothing else.
