Bomb Scare At Pentagon This AM, Suspect Arrested, Notebook Found With "Al-Queda" Written In It....Suspect Is Muslim Marine Corps Reservist

UPDATE: Fox News, per, says the suspect is a Marine Lance Corporal Reservist.  He's described by police as a "deranged man" but not suspected to be a part of a terrorist group.  Suspect is 22-23 years old, African-American and a Muslim.

Yonathan Melaku, a Lance Corporal Marine corps reservist who lives in Virginia and who is Muslim, has been identified as the suspect in custody, Fox News has learned.

In doing a Google search, I found the following item on the WJLA 7 website from just a couple of weeks ago, a person with the same name was arrested in Leesburg VA.

Police have arrested 22-year-old Yonathan Melaku, of Alexandria, in the rash of vehicle tamperings in the 500 block of Glade Fern Terrace in Leesburg.

Melaku is charged with four counts of Grand Larceny, and is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Dentention Center on a $5,000 bond.

The news report stated 27 cars were damaged and had items stolen from them.

The local Fox Affiliate in DC says Melaku is a former reservist, who joined in 2007. Records show him as being a Muslim.

(Earlier) Suspect arrested is a natuarlized citizen from Ethiopia (Fox News).
DEVELOPING: Authorities say they have a suspect in custody after finding a backpack which may contain an explosive chemical near the Pentagon in Arlington, Va.

A source with knowledge of the investigation told Fox News that authorities were alerted to a suspicious vehicle in the area early Friday morning. A backpack containing what they believe is five pounds of ammonium nitrate was found outside the vehicle, the source said, though authorities are still trying to determine what the material is.

A notebook was also found at the scene and contained threatening words like "Al Qaeda" and "Taliban," Fox News has learned.

The man arrested is a naturalized U.S. citizen who came to the country from Ethiopia, a source told

David Scholosser of the U.S. Park Police said during a press conference Friday that a man, whom he did not identify, was found inside Arlington Cemetery overnight when the cemetery was closed. The man was taken into custody and "was not very cooperative to answers about what his activities were," Scholosser said.

Scholosser said authorities then searched for the man's vehicle, which was found in close proximity to the Pentagon. He did not confirm reports that suspicious items have been found, saying the investigation is still ongoing.

Had just heard on WMAL that there are several roads closed around the Pentagon.

Wonder why the Associated Press discovered all this stuff about him except the fact that he is Muslim. Looks like they were trying to massage the news before we get it, by witholding that fact.
