Well, Well! FBI Docs Confirm Revisionist Historian Howard Zinn Was A Pinko & LIED About It

With a title like A Peoples History of the United States, I'd long suspected it, but now, a Freedom of Information Act shows that the book's author, Howard Zinn, was a member of the Communist Party USA, and had lied about it for years.

Warner Todd Huston wrote about it at Gateway Pundit, with the link to the FBI page, and states that Zinn was a chief custodian of the Berdian Legacy:
By that I mean the legacy of historian Charles Beard (1874- 1948) whose famous 1912 book about the American Revolution changed the way American universities taught the era to students. After Beard’s work, out was a focus on the patriotism, the reason, and the high principle of America’s founding fathers and in was the assumption that the founders were simply evil white men that wanted to oppress minorities and keep all the money for themselves while setting themselves up as the ruling class. Yes, the hate for America in our universities started as early as 1912.
It's fair to say that revisionist concept of American history took greater root in the 1950s and especially the 1960s, when all the problems we have today really became rooted.

Robert Stacy McCain at The Other McCain does an in-depth analysis of Zinn's Communist background.
What is important to note here is that Zinn evidently joined the Kremlin-controlled CPUSA not during the “Popular Front” era of the 1930s — when many idealists were seduced — but after the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact in which Stalin cruelly and cynically sacrificed Poland to the Nazis. Zinn was a card-carrying Commie who advocated Marxism-Leninism after the Red Army’s ”Iron Curtain” occupation of Eastern Europe, after the treachery of the Rosenbergs and Alger Hiss had been revealed, and even during the height of Stalin’s anti-Semitic “Doctors’ Plot” purge!
Going through the pdfs, McCain notes that Zinn joined every Communist front group established in the late 1940s, and that Zinn attended Party meetings five nights a week in Brooklyn.
This is a perfect example of how Communist front groups operated, seeking to exploit various “causes” for their own purposes. ...These front groups were often no more than a letterhead and a post-office box, but could be used to solicit donations from well-meaning people who didn’t realize that they were contributing indirectly to the CPUSA. Furthermore, these phony organizations with innocent-sounding names would issue flyers, pamphlets, advertisements and letters to newspapers, pushing the CPUSA propaganda line on the relevant issue. Of course, anyone who inquired about membership in the front group became a candidate for recruitment to other similar groups, and perhaps eventually into the CPUSA itself.
Similar to how modern Communist front groups like International ANSWER, etc operate. Note the names appearing on their anti-Iraq War, anti-Gitmo, 9/11 troofer, anti-everything military and War on Terror, it's always the same names listed as signers of their "statements."

Zinn was also active in the anti-Vietnam War movement in the colleges in the 1960s. He even made a trip to North Vietnam in 1968. His revisionist history book, A People's History...." is a favorite among the Hollywood liberal crowd, college pseudo intellectuals, and liberals in general. Zinn left this life for his reward in Hell back in January, at the age of 87.

If a relative or college professor gives you or requires your children to read this book, respond back about how the author was a card carrying Communist and see what their reaction is.
