In the process, they attacked one passing motorist who was flying a US flag.
Kristinn from FreeRepublic.com found the video: Warning: this video will make your blood boil.
The video, posted at KRON on May 6, 2010 by Brian Shields, shows a pick-up truck with at least three young men waving small American flags mounted on sticks from the windows as they ride alongside the Mexican march on the sidewalk. The pick-up truck is shown stopped with a female demonstrator engaging the occupants in an argument when a male demonstrator walks up to the truck and angrily swats an American flag from one of the passengers.
The truck pulls away, then stops and the occupants get out to retrieve the flag. Police are suddenly seen trying to do something. It does not appear that they arrested the male who swatted the flag out of the hand of the American.
A woman demonstrator gets between the two sides and shoos the Americans away as they go back to the truck after retrieving their flag.
A reporter tries to interview them about the incident, but Mexican demonstrators walk up to the truck and the scene devolves into profanity-laced verbal pot-shots.
The rest of the video shows scenes from the concluding rally where the Mexican demonstrators demand 'respect' and chant 'si se puede.'
Several of the demonstrators tried to cloak themselves in being Mexican-American, yet the only flag they carried was the Mexican flag. We see how they treated the American flag.
Question: Why did the police not arrest this little creep? Were they told to stand down, because they were afraid that, God forbid, the Alqueda Civil Liberites Union (ACLU defender of all things anti-American) or Al Sharpton come to protest the police for taking action against these rabble-rousers.
You students have one Hell of a nerve to demand respect, especially when you fly the flag of a foreign nation in our faces and disrespect the flag the United States of America. If anyone needs to show respect, it is YOU. Let me inform you that this is the United States of America. You need to respect our laws, our nation, our culture and our flag. If you cannot do that and you like Mexico so much, then I suggest you move back there and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!
UPDATE: Tea Party members held a demonstration yesterday in Morgan Hill and a similar incident occured (Contra Costa Times).
Despite some disagreements among the crowd, the event was mostly peaceful. There was one arrest. A 20-year-old was taken to jail and charged with misdemeanor battery for swatting a tea party member's sign out of his hand.
So, another violent incident...against a Tea Party member by an open-borders liberal.
UPDATE: Kristinn at FreeRepublic.com writes of May 12th being Flaunt The American Flag Day:
I am posting this announcement with Jim Thompson's blessing and support.
Patriotic Americans all across the nation are being called on to 'flaunt the American flag' on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 by wearing patriotic-themed clothing such as American flag style shirts, blouses, ties or jackets; American flag lapel pins or brooches; and by displaying the American flag at home, on your car or at your desk at work. You can even carry an American flag with you as you make your rounds on Wednesday and really flaunt that flag!
This is being done as a show of support for the American families in Morgan Hill, California whose students attending Live Oak High School were ordered to remove their American flag style shirts so as to not offend Mexican students on Cinco de Mayo last week.
Offended Mexican students walked out of class the next day and staged a protest march demanding "respect" for "our holiday" by demanding Americans not display the American flag on American soil.
One protester, Luis Jimenez, was videotaped by KNTV-TV saying, "Yesterday, it was our holiday, Cinco de Mayo. All of, like, the Americans thought they could wear
their flags and just flaunt them in front of us."
Another Mexican protester was videotaped by KRON-TV ripping an American flag out of the hands of an American that same day.
In response, please send this message: We Americans will flaunt our flag on our soil anytime we please. If some folks don't like that, we have an old saying for them, "America, love it or leave it!"
Please e-mail and post this call to action on blogs, Facebook, Twitter and send it to you local and national Tea Party groups and talk radio hosts.
(Note to all the race-baiting liberals and weak-kneed David Brooks types, this is not about race, or even about Mexico. This is about Americans standing up for America on American soil. If you can't handle displays of patriotism, the same message above applies to you too.)
If anyone asks who started this and why May 12, just say it was started by a TEA-ed off American and May 12 just seems like a good day to wear the red, white and blue.
Note to Keith Noberman: Jim Thompson is a great American!
