Bernard Goldberg, formerly of CBS News, decided to take aim at unnamed conservatives when he painted us all with a wide brush as "Kool-Aid drinkers" on The Loofah (O'Reilly) Factor (video at Gateway Pundit).
David Swindle at David Horowitz' NewsReal blog liveblogged during the segment and wrote:
“The Hard Right is behaving more and more like the Hard Left and that’s very troublesome.” — Bernie Goldberg on The O’Reilly Factor right now.Goldberg responded by calling Swindle a Kool-aid drinker:
I find it odd that Goldberg is criticizing “the Hard Right” but does not have the guts to name names.
It’s also strange that Goldberg has to poke at unnamed conservatives for tweaking Obama’s 57 states gaff and for putting dijon mustard on his hamburger.
I guess David Swindle was one of the conservative Kool Aid drinkers I was talking about on O’Reilly tonight. My point was that liberals wouldn’t give W credit for finding a cure for cancer. And now some conservatives are behaving as badly as the crazy left in their non-stop (often dopey) criticism of Obama. And I say that as someone who’s not a fan of the president. You may not agree with my take, David, but wimpy? Is that really the word you want to use? Here’s my guess: the word probably is a pretty good description of … you. Am I close?First of all, Bernie, you're way off base in your comparison. The vile used by the "hard-Left" against George W. Bush doesn't rise to what has been said about Barack Hussein Obama. And, you don't cite examples, except the "57 States" and the "Dijon Mustard" examples.
There's a reason conservative commentators and blogs criticized those instances. Saying you've been to "all 57 states" shows a lack of understanding of the nation you are campaigning to lead. As for the Dijon mustard, let me ask you, Bernie, who usually eats dijon mustard? The elite. Honestly, I could really care less what anyone decides to eat on their burgers. But there's a deeper point. Asking for grey poupon on a hamburger shows a disconnect from "the folks" (as O'Reilly calls us), most of whom eat regular mustard on their burgers.
Might I recommend Bernie Goldberg take a trip to the Broken Spoke in my hometown of Austin, TX. It's a great place to hear some country music and even have a great meal. The owner, James White, will usually tell the audience the following from the bandstand:
"We've been here since 1964, and Bob Wills played here, and Ernest Tubb and Tex Ritter and Roy Acuff and Willie Nelson played here before he went to Nashville. We built it. We own it. We run it. We're proud of it. We do it the way we've always done it. You won't find any ferns hanging up in here. We don't sell bottled water. When you order a cheeseburger, you won't get Grey Poupon mustard on it, you get the real thing here. We haven't changed anything. And we've still got the best chicken fried steaks in town."But I guess the delicious burgers at the Broken Spoke are too redneck for a couple of Northeastern media elites like Bernie Goldberg and Bill O'Reilly.
Oh well, I guess I'm just another "Kool-Aid Drinking right winger" in Bernie Goldberg's eyes. However, if he ever comes across this blog posting, I challenge you, Bernie, to see on this blog where I have criticized Republicans and George W. Bush (and I have a number of times, for your information), when they've deserved criticism.
Sorry Bernie, I thought you were better than that.

Thanks for your support! I hope you saw me calling out Goldberg this morning for his braindead comment:
