Sarah Palin arrived in Fairfax, VA this morning for a book signing at BJs Wholesale Club in Fair Lakes Shopping Center.
This is the scene at about 12 noon, after I'd come out of the store from getting my book autographed.
I met at least one family yesterday, who started their vigil at 12:30 p.m. When I arrived at around 8 a.m. this morning, the line was about as big as it is in the photo above. More came by in the three hours leading up to her 11 a.m. arrival.
Despite the rain, which turned to snow at around 9:30, people were in good spirits and conversed with each other. Many went and bought hand and foot warmers for themselves and their neighbors.
There were a few protesters who showed up but were told to go across the street. Cameras and cell phones were not allowed, so I'd left mine in the car. That was unfortunate because I could have captured how mean-spirited the Left really is.
A person (I won't call him a man for reasons obvious later) took video of the crowd and, addressing my neighbors and I, asked why we liked Sarah Palin. He then proceeded to comment with "I heard she's not giving lap dances today." I commented, in a sarcastic tone, "yeah, that's very funny." The lib then followed with, "Is she in there with her retarded son? She should really be staying at home with him." While security was telling him he needed to go somewhere else, I told him, "There's isn't a corner of Hell hot enough for you, @$$hole!"
Besides Sarah, her husband, Todd, was sitting next to her. Her aunt, as well as her mom and dad were there as well, greeting visitors.
Palin was at Ft. Hood yesterday. Her last date on the tour is December 10, in her birthplace of Sandpoint, ID and nearby Coeur d'Alene (both beautiful places).

UPDATE: Here's another example of the classless liberals in Fairfax, VA, attacking Trig Palin.

A commenter to this post below, photoswo, was at the book signing yesterday and encountered another "tolerant" Fairfax County lib. He writes:
...another lib asked me why a black man would want to see Sarah Palin. What can you say....
Way to go, classless Fairfax libs....you keep chuckin' that chicken.

Thanks for posting MiM. Loved how you gave that hater Lib the business.
Are you enjoying the book?
Thanks very much for your post on Sarah's appearance. The Washington Post said about 2000 people came, but TPM says 500. Which is correct? Yeah, the creeps who criticize Sarah for bringing Trig with her--they would probably hide him in a back bedroom, and let a nanny check on him every 12 hours. Don't they realize he can feel the love and attention he is receiving? Oh, well, Thanks again.
Anonymous: TPM is full of it. There were a lot more than 500. This is one of the rare times I have to agree with the Washington ComPost.
Thanks Dinah: I haven't started reading yet, as I had a busy day yesterday shovling snow, etc. I'm looking forward to it and will probably write a review.
Photoswo: That's pathetic, but typical of the lack of class of those who came out to "protest" yesterday. I wonder if that may have been you a few people in front of me. If that was, I enjoyed meeting and talking to you.
Greetings from behind enemy lines in NYC!
I took the 3 a.m. train to D.C. to be at this book signing.
Seeing Governor Palin and her family was worth the four-hour wait in the wet snow. My only regret was not giving her my business card for volunteering purposes.
Furthermore, it was wonderful being in the company of right-minded people. To wit: the chap with whom I spent the morning talking about the Civil War, the War on Terror, how to best wipe out the Taliban, Morse code, vacuum tube ham radios, drove me — a complete stranger — to the Fairfax station on the Orange line and wished me well on my train ride back to NYC.

As of 1200, they announced she had signed 1,000 books. So I would say the 500 number is incorrect. She did stay and signed every last book.
