The White House is stepping up its attacks against the Fox News Channel, labeling it a bastion of stilted and opinionated journalism. A top administration communications official has called the Fox "opinion journalism masquerading as news," and vowed to wage a war of ideas against the network.
Speaking with Time Magazine, White House Communications Director Anita Dunn said that the administration intends to be "more aggressive rather than just sit back and defend ourselves, because they will say anything. They will take any small thing and distort it."
The White House blog has begun singling out and taking on the cable news network. Recent blog posts carry pejorative headlines such as "Fox Lies," and "even more Fox lies." Time calls Dunn the "general" of this anti-Fox campaign.
...The administration tried over the summer to doctor town hall meetings with plants in the audience and pre-screened questions. Helen Thomas, not exactly an outspoken conservative, likened this media manipulation to the Nixon administration's attempts to control the press. "What the hell do they think we are, puppets?" she asked.
Whatever the administration expects from the press, it is clear that Fox is not playing ball. The administration's extreme response to the network--its incessant attacks on Glenn Beck, and the network generally--indicate that it is concerned about the potential sway Fox and its personalities could have on public opinion. It remains to be seen whether other networks will notice the trend, articulated by Thomas, or whether they will remain on the White House bandwagon.
Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace recently said the Obama White House was "the biggest bunch of crybabies I've seen" in his 30 years of covering Washington.
When it comes to "opinion journalism" that the Obamabots accuse Fox of, the remaining TV networks act as lapdogs for the Administration. ABC did a full day of pimping Obamacare to America with no opposing viewpoint. CNN recently "fact checked" a Saturday Night Live sketch critical of Obama and had an Atlanta school sing a pro-Obamacare song on TV. In May, one White House official went as far as to say "at the White House...we love MSNBC."
On a smaller scale, Obama's newest fan in the blogosphere, Charles Foster "Icarus" Johnson of Little Green Fascists, has become like his new hero on a smaller scale, thin-skinned, petty, cannot take criticism and demands absolute obedience to his every word.
I've decided to speak out lately about his taking at face-value the (now debunked) estimated number of the 9/12 march given by the DC Fire Department and his recent racist attack on Michelle Malkin.
"Icarus," like Big Brother, has been following those with linking privileges at LGF and blocking their accounts if they either disagree with him, link a post he doesn't like, run blogs where any anti-LGF discussions aren't terminated by the blog owner, and LGF members who attack him on other blogs.
This week, he's terminated the account of two friends of this blog: zombie of zombietime and Jonn at This Ain't Hell. These two run great blogs who gave Charles a lot of great material over the last few years. Charles in many ways took credit for Zombie's work in the Reuters fauxagraphy back in 2006, when he appeared on CNN. After all of that, this is what "Icarus" had to say about Zombie on Sunday.

The crime? At zomblog, there's free speech, and people were allowed to post discontent with Charles, which was too much for one of his ass-lickers named Irish Rose. Charles the Thin-Skinned blocked Jonn's account for attaching TAH's coverage of the small "anti-war" rally in front of the White House in the "Links" section. In my book, if there's anyone who is entitled to speak, it's people like Jonn, who've honorably served this nation protecting that very freedom. That's something King Idiot Charles doesn't know jack about.
So, now LGF has become nothing but a rubber room echo chamber of a paranoid lunatic, who was a "Nirther" and a Climate Change skeptic (I have the screenshots) before he was against them, kinda like Hanoi John Kerry. Now, it's Christian-bashing 24/7, the latest Darwinist lesson, and how all right-wingers are bigots. Mix that with photos of tankers floating off the LA coast and guitarists who can actually play, compared to "Icarus, whose guitar playing sucks a mean one! Think I'm kidding? Even George Duke had to tell him how to play his licks, when they were making music people bounced their low riders to back in the late 1970s. (see below at about 4:15)
Piss off, Charles, and enjoy your meltdown, you jerkoff!
