The Obama Administration's attack on Rush Limbaugh via his PR outfit, the liberal MSM, continues, illustrating how the administration is distracting from "That One's" failures in dealing with the deepening recession.
Newsweak Magazine (a subsidiary of the Washington Compost) has Limbaugh on the cover, illustrating the liberal wish to silence this man's free speech with a black rectangular box over his mouth containing the words, "Enough!" (FreeRepublic.com).
In putting together their hit piece on El Rushbo, Newsweak found a useful idiot in the form of alleged "conservative" David Frum to make it appear not all conservatives are "dittoheads." Frum, a former writer at National Review and speechwriter (he claims his wife came up with the term "Axis of Evil") for President Bush, is really more of the country-club Republican elite than a real conservative. He refused to support John McLame because of that "untested small-town mayor" Sarah Palin, joining other snobbish Republican elites who saw Palin as too redneck for them to support.
Frum writes in his hit piece:
"In the days since I stumbled into this controversy, I've received a great deal of e-mail. (Most of it on days when (radio host Mark) Levin or (Sean) Hannity or Hugh Hewitt or Limbaugh have had something especially disobliging to say about me.) Most of these e-mails say some version of the same thing: if you don't agree with Rush, quit calling yourself a conservative and get out of the Republican Party. There's the perfect culmination of the outlook Rush Limbaugh has taught his fans and followers: we want to transform the party of Lincoln, Eisenhower and Reagan into a party of unanimous dittoheads -- and we don't care how small the party has to shrink to do it. That's not the language of politics. It's the language of cult."What you don't understand David, is that Rush Limbaugh is not trying to "transform" the Republican Party. It's people like you who are trying to do the "transforming" with movements like "New Majority." Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity et la, as well as numerous bloggers and conservative activists are fighting to the party to remain true to the conservatism of Ronald Reagan. People like you, Frum, are the ones trying to water conservatism down, claiming the "Era of Reagan is dead." What the Republican Party needs today are principled conservatives like Limbaugh, not sell outs who are willing to pander to voters by becoming "Democrat Lite."
As far as being the "language of a cult," conservatives are more intellectually honest and independent thinkers than you portray. You, David Frum, in your selfish, vain attempt to be somebody, are aiding the biggest cult of personality ever to enter the American political area: Barack Hussein Obama. Most of the people who voted for him can't tell you why he was qualified to be President. They only uttered the words "Change" and "Hope" with a dreamy glaze in their eyes. They're the same ones who championed dissent during the Bush Years and now tell all of us to shut the hell up when it comes to Obama.
David Frum, If you ever were a conservative, you certainly sold your soul to get a lot of attention for a fleeting few minutes. You're not doing the Party you claim to love a favor and you're not doing the nation a favor by playing the part of useful idiot in this sleight of hand to distract from the miserable failure called the Obama Administration.
New Majority? Right David! That worked really well in 2006 and 2008. Why do conservatives need to take even more advice from losers like you?
