"It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."
As many of us headed off for the Thanksgiving holidays, we were reminded of what happened to our nation seven years ago, as India experienced their version of 9/11 on Wednesday, in a series of coordinated attacks in Mumbai.
These attacks, carried out by terrorists from the so-called "Religion of Peace" called Islam killed up to 174 people and injured hundreds more. The count will most likely go up. Among the dead are six Americans. A Jewish Center was also attacked and everyone in the building killed. From this video on Yahoo news, the Muslim terrorists planned to do more damage, reminiscent of the 1st World Trade Center attack in 1993. Their plans were to kill up to 5,000 and blow up the historic, century old Taj Hotel.
And where was our new President Elect, Barack Hussein Obama. When he wasn't giving press conferences from his phony "Office of the President Elect" or passing out turkeys, he made time to issue a statement on Wednesday, through his spokesmouth.
"President-Elect Obama strongly condemns today's terrorist attacks in Mumbai, and his thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the people of India. These coordinated attacks on innocent civilians demonstrate the grave and urgent threat of terrorism. The United States must continue to strengthen our partnerships with India and nations around the world to root out and destroy terrorist networks. We stand with the people of India, whose democracy will prove far more resilient than the hateful ideology that led to these attacks."
Is that the best Obama can do? Issue a weak condemnation, offer prayers and lecture his country about "strengthening partnerships?" He didn't even issue a personal statement until Friday. Why? If terrorism is a "grave and urgent threat" shouldn't Obama have made a more personal statement earlier, as he is going to be the leader of the free world?
On Friday, Obama called what happened in Mumbai "...this terrible tragedy." Wrong words. What happened in Mumbai is not like a bad tornado or hurricane. Like September 11, 2001, what happened in Mumbai was a dastardly, brutal act of war on India and free people everywhere by the ideology of Islamofascism. Obama clearly does not recognize that. Nor is he willing to call the Mumbai attack for what it is, another attack on innocents by Islamofascist terrorists, or even Muslim extremists. Not once does he tell leaders in nations that harbor terrorists that they cannot be allowed to harbor these madmen. Obama is willing to go back to the 1990's style of fighting terror by treating Islamic terrorists like they're bank robbers or a drug cartel.
Mumbai was a reminder to us all of what happened on 9/11, that the threat is still real and must be destroyed, not "brought to justice." I'm sure, somewhere in a cave, the terrorists were watching Obama to see how they reacted, giving him his first "test" which Joe Biden spoke of.
.....and he flunked.
