Israeli Victims In Mumbai Received Worst Torture

I found this horrible description of the victims of the terror attack in Mumbai at Powerline.
Melanie Phillips takes a look at the atrocities committed in Mumbai and finds that "they told us very clearly a number of things." Here is one message that should be hard to mistake:

"Doctors working in a hospital where all the bodies, including that of the terrorists, were taken said they had not seen anything like this in their lives.

'Bombay has a long history of terror. I have seen bodies of riot victims, gang war and previous terror attacks like bomb blasts. But this was entirely different. It was shocking and disturbing,' a doctor said.

Asked what was different about the victims of the incident, another doctor said: 'It was very strange. I have seen so many dead bodies in my life, and was yet traumatised. A bomb blast victim's body might have been torn apart and could be a very disturbing sight. But the bodies of the victims in this attack bore such signs about the kind of violence of urban warfare that I am still unable to put my thoughts to words,' he said.

Asked specifically if he was talking of torture marks, he said: 'It was apparent that most of the dead were tortured. What shocked me were the telltale signs showing clearly how the hostages were executed in cold blood,' one doctor said.

The other doctor, who had also conducted the post-mortem of the victims, said: 'Of all the bodies, the Israeli victims bore the maximum torture marks. It was clear that they were killed on the 26th itself. It was obvious that they were tied up and tortured before they were killed. It was so bad that I do not want to go over the details even in my head again,' he said.

Corroborating the doctors' claims about torture was the information that the Intelligence Bureau had about the terror plan. 'During his interrogation, Ajmal Kamal said they were specifically asked to target the foreigners, especially the Israelis,' an IB source said."

Phillips comments:

"The atrocities demonstrated with crystal clarity what the Islamist war is all about - and the western commentariat didn't understand because it simply refuses to acknowledge, even now, what that war actually is. It does not arise from particular grievances. It is not rooted in "despair" over Palestine. It is
not a reaction to the war in Iraq. It is a war waged in the name of Islam against America, Britain, Hindus, Jews and all who refuse to submit to Islamic conquest."

What of the Islamists treatment of their Jewish targets? Phillips writes:

"They went to some lengths in addition to single out a centre for observant Jews. Rabbi Holtzberg and his wife Rivka were murdered not because of Palestine but simply because they were Jews. That is because hatred of Jews as Jews is fundamental to the Islamists' hatred of the west - and of Israel."

And while this was going on in India, a few of the rag-tag Iraq Veterans Against the War roamed around Union Square in San Francisco for a lame act of street theatre. These "vets" most of whom have never set foot in Iraq, tied up "onlookers" and performed some sort of torture on them, all to make the military they claimed to serve in look worse than the Islamofascists.

In truth, the IVAW traitors do nothing but glorify the terrorists with their act.

It would be nice, for once, to hear all these liberal "anti-war" groups and Democrats get mad about how these people were tortured and quit calling our military torturers. After reading about this, I'm sick of hearing these liberal pantywaists complaining about "waterboarding," "loud music" and "cold temperatures." That is NOTHING compared to what these poor souls, especially the Israelis, went through. So why don't all you fools shut the hell up for once. Just because you're liberal doesn't mean the Islamofascists don't look on you as an Infidel.

Mumbai Was Obama's "Biden Test" 51 Days Before Inauguration....And He Flunked!

"It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

As many of us headed off for the Thanksgiving holidays, we were reminded of what happened to our nation seven years ago, as India experienced their version of 9/11 on Wednesday, in a series of coordinated attacks in Mumbai.

These attacks, carried out by terrorists from the so-called "Religion of Peace" called Islam killed up to 174 people and injured hundreds more. The count will most likely go up. Among the dead are six Americans. A Jewish Center was also attacked and everyone in the building killed. From this video on Yahoo news, the Muslim terrorists planned to do more damage, reminiscent of the 1st World Trade Center attack in 1993. Their plans were to kill up to 5,000 and blow up the historic, century old Taj Hotel.

And where was our new President Elect, Barack Hussein Obama. When he wasn't giving press conferences from his phony "Office of the President Elect" or passing out turkeys, he made time to issue a statement on Wednesday, through his spokesmouth.
"President-Elect Obama strongly condemns today's terrorist attacks in Mumbai, and his thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the people of India. These coordinated attacks on innocent civilians demonstrate the grave and urgent threat of terrorism. The United States must continue to strengthen our partnerships with India and nations around the world to root out and destroy terrorist networks. We stand with the people of India, whose democracy will prove far more resilient than the hateful ideology that led to these attacks."

Is that the best Obama can do? Issue a weak condemnation, offer prayers and lecture his country about "strengthening partnerships?" He didn't even issue a personal statement until Friday. Why? If terrorism is a "grave and urgent threat" shouldn't Obama have made a more personal statement earlier, as he is going to be the leader of the free world?

On Friday, Obama called what happened in Mumbai "...this terrible tragedy." Wrong words. What happened in Mumbai is not like a bad tornado or hurricane. Like September 11, 2001, what happened in Mumbai was a dastardly, brutal act of war on India and free people everywhere by the ideology of Islamofascism. Obama clearly does not recognize that. Nor is he willing to call the Mumbai attack for what it is, another attack on innocents by Islamofascist terrorists, or even Muslim extremists. Not once does he tell leaders in nations that harbor terrorists that they cannot be allowed to harbor these madmen. Obama is willing to go back to the 1990's style of fighting terror by treating Islamic terrorists like they're bank robbers or a drug cartel.

Mumbai was a reminder to us all of what happened on 9/11, that the threat is still real and must be destroyed, not "brought to justice." I'm sure, somewhere in a cave, the terrorists were watching Obama to see how they reacted, giving him his first "test" which Joe Biden spoke of.

.....and he flunked.

Terror Suspects Living In Oklahoma City?

This is sobering, considering the events of the day in India and how New York Subway systems are on alert for terrorist threats by al-Queda.

FOX 25 KOKH TV in Oklahoma City has a report (video here) of possible terror suspects in the Oklahoma City area. One, a Middle Eastern individual, left the Oklahoma City house he was living at with unopened mail, children's toys and other items behind. This came after the person was eavesdropped on by federal agents.

Also, this past July, a car was stopped that contained 25 pounds of uncut Afghanistan heroin, according to the KOKH news report and this story from Many, like David Cid of the Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism, believe the heroin could be sold to fund terror operations.

Cid told the Gazette since money for Islamic terrorist groups gained through charity front groups has dried up, many are now depending on traditional criminal activity to raise cash. Drug trafficking would provide such money.

Appearing in the KOKH Channel 25 news report, Cid, a former FBI Agent, also said, "If you talk to police chiefs, what keeps them up at night is suicide bombers." He also believes roadside explosives similar to those used in Iraq could be used here in America by terrorists, as well as bombings of several soft targets at once.
"In its death throws, al Queda will become barbarously violent I believe, because that’s the way the believe they will win. They see us a society adverse to casualties They don’t believe we have the moral fiber and the grit to fight, and so they think killing us in large numbers will lead to our capitulation," Cid told KOKH.

After what we've seen today, make no mistake, terrorism is still a real threat to us. It is more than just capturing one person. It is an entire radical ideology which must be defeated and cannot be appeased.

Islamofascist Terrorists Strike in Mumbai, India; 80 Killed; Hostages Held

“They wanted anyone with British or American passports,” one witness at the hotel told the NDTV Indian news channel. “They wanted foreigners.”

MUMBAI, India - Terrorists armed with automatic weapons, bombs and grenades attacked at least seven sites in Mumbai on Wednesday and were holding Western hostages at two luxury hotels, authorities said. Police and Indian media reported at least 80 people were killed and 250 wounded.

The gunmen targeted five-star hotels, a popular restaurant, a police station, a crowded train station and other sites in India's financial capital in attacks that began late Wednesday and continued into Thursday, police and witnesses said.

Explosions were heard at the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower hotel, and an ensuing fire engulfed the top of the landmark building early Thursday. Screams could be heard and enormous clouds of black smoke rose from the century-old waterfront edifice. Firefighters were spraying water at the blaze.

...An organization calling itself the Deccan Mujahideen sent an e-mail to news organizations claiming responsibility for the attacks. Terrorism experts said they had not previously heard of the group.

Here is video shot at the scene:

Jonn at This Ain't Hell is in contact with a friend who lives in Mumbai, you can read her descriptions at his blog posting here, as well as any updates.

Two British MEPs were in the Taj Mahal Hotel when the attacks happened.

Gateway Pundit writes:

UPDATE: Horror! There is fighting reported from the hotels. The operation is ongoing. Security forces are moving throughout the city. There could be more targets throughout the city. A couple of terrorists have been killed away from the downtown. This is a new kind of urban jihad.

"Dr. Evil" Reid: Amnesty Is Coming Down The Pike In Congress

From the Weekly Standard, a revealing question and answer with Senate Majority Leader, Dr. Evil Harry Reid.

Q. With more Democrats in the Senate and the House and a Democrat in the White House, how do you see congressional efforts playing out on such issues as health care and immigration?

A: On immigration, there's been an agreement between (President-elect Barack)Obama and (Arizona Republican Sen. John) McCain to move forward on that.... We'll do that. We have to get this economy stuff figured out first, so I think we'll have a shot at doing something on health care in the next Congress for sure.

Q: Will there be as much of a fight on immigration as last time?

A: We've got McCain and we've got a few others. I don't expect much of a fight at all. Now health care is going to be difficult. That's a very complicated issue. We debated at great length immigration. People understand the issues very well. We have not debated health care, so that's going to take a lot more time to do.

So Reid, Obama and McLame are going to join forces to screw this country? Attention any of you pundits or wishy-washy types who still want to blame Sarah Palin for McLame's loss and attack "social conservatism." The reason Obama won the White House is because we had the wrong person at the top of the GOP ticket. People knew McLame was this type of candidate, always willing to join the other side to shove more big government down our throat.

If Reid, Obama and McLame, the Three Amigos want a fight over immigration, we'll give it to them again.

Is Virginia About To Become More Illegal Alien Friendly?

It appears liberal Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine is about to make Virginia the California of the East Coast, according to a Washington ComPost story linked at a great Prince William County blog, Black Velvet Bruce Li.
RICHMOND -- Virginia, known for some of the nation's toughest policies on illegal immigration, appears to be abandoning its hard-line approach as state officials consider proposals to help foreign-born residents assimilate, including increasing the number of English classes.

In the coming weeks, the Virginia Commission on Immigration will send Gov. Timothy M. Kaine (D) two dozen recommendations, most of which would help immigrants instead of penalizing them.

Those on both sides of the issue say interest in immigration has waned because of the growing economic crisis, a clearer understanding of the state's limitations on a largely federal issue and backlash at the voting booth.

....Recommendations include shortening the Medicaid residency requirements for certain qualified immigrants, offering in-state tuition to immigrants who meet specific criteria and creating an immigration assistance office.

Notice the key word left out of the ComPost article, ILLEGAL? BVBL also notes the commission recommends that things like allowing hospitals to keep tabs and fingerprint patients who do not pay their bills and providing proof of legal residence to be eligible for public assistance (all common sense methods) should NOT be done.

So what will be the end result? Look to California as your example what Virgina would look like. Lower class whites and blacks will have a harder time finding work in these tough economic times, because unscrupulous employers will want to pay slave wages to these illegals. The school systems will go downhill. Hospitals will go broke and crime will go up.

Example. After neighboring Prince William County got tough and decided to enforce immigration laws, their crime rate went down almost 19 percent. Where I live, Fairfax County, the crime rate went up 22 percent from the year before, thanks to liberals like Jihad Gerry Connolly (who was just given a promotion to House of Representatives by the voters after wrecking the county financially), who've made the county illegal alien friendly. Even during the first six months of this year, crime in Fairfax County was up 12 percent. Even in Herndon, where (like Prince William County) there are some elected officials who have the balls to stand up for enforcement of immigration law, there's still problems. I've heard stories of women being afraid to walk in areas of Elden Street due to the "loitering" on the sidewalk.

Virginia liberals and RINOs may think immigration is no longer an important issue, but wait until this new liberal experiment is enacted. Then, you will see voter outrage at the polls next year toward these California style "Progressives" for their aiding and abetting of illegal aliens.

Holy Land Foundation: Guilty on All 108 Counts

Another victory in the War on Terrorism (Holy Land Foundation defendants guilty on all counts, Denton Record-Chronicle)
A jury on Monday determined that the Holy Land Foundation and five men who worked with the Muslim charity were guilty of three dozen counts related to the illegal funneling of at least $12 million to the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.

The unanimous verdicts are a complete victory for the government, which streamlined its case after a mistrial last year, and worked hard to carefully educate jurors on the complex evidence presented in the massive case. Guilty verdicts were read on 108 separate charges.

The prosecution victory is also a major one for the administration of President George Bush, whose efforts at fighting terrorism financing in court have been troubled, even though the flow of funds seems to be effectively shut down.

Question: Why is any legal matter in this war on Islamofascism either a victory for or a defeat for President Bush? It wasn't Bush who was attacked. America as a whole was attacked on 9/11/01 by Muslim terrorists. President Bush has only done his constitutional duty to protect and defend this nation and it's citizens, no thanks to most of the elected Democrat leadership and their activists as well as the media.

It is a victory for America.

Pro-Proposition 8 Letter-to-the-Editor Writers Targeted By Gay Gestapo

Not only are businesses and individuals who supported California's Proposition 8, the defining of marriage as between man and a woman, with small monetary donations being targeted by the Gay Gestapo, at least one letter to the editor writer has been targeted.

John Diaz wrote yesterday in the San Francisco Chronicle.
A supporter of Proposition 8, fed up with what he believed was the gay community's and "liberal media's" refusal to accept the voters' verdict, fired off a letter to the editor.

"Please show respect for democracy," he wrote, in a letter we published.

What he encountered instead was an utter lack of respect for free speech.

Within hours, the intimidation game was on. Because his real name and city were listed - a condition for publication of letters to The Chronicle - opponents of Prop. 8 used Internet search engines to find the letter writer's small business, his Web site (which included the names of his children and dog), his phone number and his clients. And they posted that information in the "Comments" section of - urging, in ugly language, retribution against the author's business and its identified clients.

"They're intimidating people that don't have the same beliefs as they do... so they'll be silenced," he told me last week. "It doesn't bode well for the free-speech process. People are going to have to be pretty damn courageous to speak up about anything. Why would anyone want to go through this?"

It's the same kind of tactics liberals always accuse conservatives of doing, silencing debate. But if you don't agree with them, they're always the one who will attack you for exercising your free speech by calling you a bigot, intimidating your family, or calling up your place of business to get you fired.

In that sense, these gay marriage supporters have adopted the same intimidation tactics similar to what the Ku Klux Klan did after the Civil War to legislators and activists who fought southern discrimination. And perhaps that's a good analogy, since they've already resorted to using racial slurs and outright bigotry towards Catholics, Christians and Mormons.

For all their talk about "tolerance" and fighting "hate," the pro-gay marriage crowd is doing their best to be the biggest purveyors of intolerance, bigotry and squashing of the First Amendment rights of those who disagree with them.

And you can bet once again, with the lawsuits from the spineless city and county governments in liberal areas of California, they'll try to use the courts to steal another important right.

The right to vote and have it count.

Victory in Iraq Day: November 22, 2008

Today is a day to celebrate. This blog has joined forces with a large number of others in the blogosphere to celebrate Victory in Iraq Day, as suggested by blogger and Bay Area Photojournalist extraordinaire, Zombie (click to read background and list of blogs participating).

White House Press Secretary Dana Perino also referenced how we have seen victory in Iraq at a press conference the other day (video & transcript from Gateway Pundit).

QUESTION: Yes, sorry, Dana, back to the Iraq agreement again that the Hill is being briefed on. Can you remind us again why this agreement is not the timetable that the President fought so hard against, and also how this does not attempt to tie President-elect Obama's hands in any way?

MS. PERINO: You remember back in the debate when we were talking about arbitrary dates for withdrawal, that was when there were some members of Congress just suggesting that we get our troops out of Iraq, win or lose, without any sort of planning or thinking about the conditions on the ground. What we've seen since then is that as a result of the surge, we've been able to have tremendous successes on the security front, both because of the bravery of our soldiers and the work that they've done, and also the provincial reconstruction teams that are peopled by people from the State Department and USDA and other places to try to help on the political and diplomatic side of the equation, as well.

This is a mutually agreed to agreement. And that is one of the things that is different about an arbitrary date for withdrawal, when you want -- when you say you're going to leave, win or lose. We believe that the conditions are such now that we are able to celebrate the victory that we've had so far, and establish both a strategic framework agreement, which is a much broader document and talks about all sorts of cooperation that we'll have with Iraq from here on out -- from trade and health care and exchanges on science, and a real strong bilateral agreement that you would hope we would have with any of our allies.

These documents usually take years to negotiate. We've been able to compress that and do it within the year so that we can look at the conditions on the ground, work with the joint command and with the Iraqis at the plans that they have. And some of the dates that are identified in the document follow the joint command plan. So we are able to consider now having a date that we could have our troops come home. And the details of all of this will be finalized hopefully soon, and then hopefully you'll hear from the President, as well.
Five and a half years after the start of the invasion of Iraq in March 2003, we've reached this point where almost all benchmarks have been met and reconciliation has occurred across Iraq.

It could have been done sooner. Unfortunately, in my opinion, this war was prolonged, in a large part, due to one political party (the Democrats) and their desire to see our military defeated at any cost, all for the sake of politically defeating George W. Bush. In conjunction with the liberal mainstream media, they sought to undermine confidence in the war in the American public and in the President's leadership, all for political gain.

The liberals' pessimism and surrender-at-all-cost attitude was picked up by al-Queda, who ramped up the attacks, suicide bombings, IED attacks, and vicious beheadings, all for the express purpose of feeding the Democrats, the media and the Communist led-"anti-war" movement proof that the war was lost.

And these weren't just kook members of Congress. It was the entire Democrat Party. The Senate Majority Leader, "Dr Evil" Harry Reid said the "war is lost." Barack Hussein Obama called the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq "wasted lives." When President Bush instituted the "Surge" that turned the tide in Iraq, the Democrats fought him every step of the way. When it was apparent the Surge was working, the Democrats refused to acknowledge it. The party's sole owners,, called General David Petraeus a traitor in a newspaper ad. Hillary Rotten Clinton defended the group's ad while Obama (who refused to meet with Petraeus) did not vote.

That does not include the attacks in the media by several Democrats against our military. I'm referring to Dick Durbin, Jack-off Murtha, Fortney Pete Stark, Jim Moron and "Do Nothing" Nancy Pelosi.

Many of us took time out of our daily lives, our families, our hobbies or other things to take a stand in support of our troops against these mobs of unwashed commies and recycled hippies who marched in support of the terrorists and against victory in Iraq. Patriotic Americans banded together and covered our soldiers' backs, so that they could do their job in defeating the enemy.

And they have, no thanks to the Democrats and the pro-terrorist Left.

In Raleigh, North Carolina; Manchester, Connecticut and other areas around the country, there are Victory in Iraq Day celebrations being held.

When the time comes for our military to return, they deserve a victory parade, a welcome home greeting and a round of thanks from America, for a job well done.

On behalf of America, I salute and congratulate our military, their leaders and especially their Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush, for your leadership and resolve that America must win and not fall back in defeat.

This is your day and your victory.

Two Faces of Fat Boy Jerrold Nadler: Warns Bush Against Pardoning "Cronies," But Supported, Aided & Abetted Clinton Pardons of Terrorists

Rep. Jerrold Nadler, who once condemned efforts to stop the theft of Florida for Algor in 2000 as a "whiff of fascism," is attempting to throw his weight around when it comes to President George W. Bush's pardons before leaving office.

According to the Austin American-Snakesman, Nadler (also known as Jabba the Hut), has written a resolution demanding Bush refrain from “pre-emptive pardons of senior officials in his administration during the final 90 days of office.”

The resolution, Nadler says, is in response to Bush’s “widespread abuses of power and potentially criminal transgressions against our Constitution.”
The goal, he says, is to prevent “undeserved pardons of officials who may have been co-conspirators in the president’s unconstitutional policies, such as torture, illegal surveillance and curtailing of due process for defendants.”

“This resolution declares that we will not tolerate a last minute attempt by President Bush to shelter his cronies - cronies who may well be guilty of serious criminal offenses - from the full force of the law,” says Nadler.

Well where was Jerrold Nadler when Bill Clinton pardoned tax cheats like Marc Rich and FALN terrorists? Not only was there no condemnation from Big Boy, he condemned a House resolution passed to protest Clinton's clemency for eleven members of the terrorist group in 1999, according to CNN.
Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-New York, called the House resolution a "travesty" and said it interferes in the criminal justice system.

"Why is this being rushed through? To embarrass the president and the first lady, who is considering running for the Senate in New York," Nadler said.

In addition, Nadler intervened to seek pardons for Linda Evans and Susan Rosenberg, members of the May 19th Communist Organization, which was an offshoot of Bill Ayers' Weather Underground. The group robbed a Brinks armored car in late 1981 in which one Brinks guard and two police officers were killed. Instead of a pardon, President Clinton commuted their sentences. According to David Horowitz' project, DiscoverTheNetworks:
Nadler initially denied that he took any position in these controversial pardons. But after his links to the Rosenberg family through New York City's liberal Congregation B'nei Jeshurun (of which Nadler and they are members) came to light, wrote investigative reporter Jacob Laksin, "Nadler attempted to cast himself as a humble courier between the Rosenberg family and the White House. This version failed to impress even the normally indulgent New York Times, which denounced the pardons in an editorial."

After Nadler's intercession freed them, these two domestic terrorists have reaffirmed their radicalism. Rosenberg has described herself as a political activist who "supported the right of oppressed people to armed struggle." Evans has waged a propaganda campaign depicting all inmates in American prisons as victims of white racism, imperialism and "political circumstance." In March 2002 at a conference she helped organize in Communist Cuba, Evans called for the release of "political prisoners" in the U.S. who had been "incarcerated because of their involvement in political activities which challenged the unjust nature of the U.S. socioeconomic system and its hegemonic policies around the world." Among the "political prisoners" Evans wanted set free were fellow Weather Underground bomber Kathy Boudin, member of the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) Kathy Soliah (also known as Sara Jane Olson), and convicted cop killers Mumia Abu Jamal and Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin (also known as H. Rap Brown).

Not only is Nadler a partisan hack, he has a soft spot for terrorists, be they domestic or the Islamofascist type who are imprisoned at Club Gitmo. Note also, that in an effort of goodwill, Bush refused to investigate any of Clinton's pardons. Now President elect Obama and his AG nominee have both mentioned the possibility of investigating executive orders and other aspects of the Bush Administration. Shows what Bush's "New Tone" accomplished, not a damn thing.

So Mr. President, screw the "New Tone" and partisan, terrorist loving hacks like Jerrold Nadler. Protect people in your administration, by pardons if necessary, from these partisan fishing expeditions to criminalize your efforts to fulfill your Constitutional duty of "providing for the common defense." That includes a pardon for Scooter Libby in my book.

McClintock Appears Headed For Congress

Great news from California, as announced on former California Senator and 4th Congressional District Candidate Tom McClintock.
More than 4/5 of the uncounted ballots in this race were announced today, boosting our lead to 1,793 votes, or 0.49 percent. There are less than 4,100 ballots yet to be counted – all from counties that we carried with between 51 and 53 percent – and Charlie Brown would need to receive 71.9 percent of the remaining ballots to overtake our current lead.

We are told to expect the final tallies from the counties still outstanding to be announced by early next week, and I expect to be making a formal statement then. For now, I think we can safely say that the fat lady is singing – and she’s singing our song.

When I lived in California, I knew Tom McClintock's name real well. He was the almost lone sane voice in the legislature constantly on the radio and in print pushing for conservative principles, both in the "Red" Davis and Arnold SchwarzenKennedy governorships. He came very close to becoming Lt. Governor in 2006.

Now Tom appears to be well on his way to Washington DC. His district in California, as well as the nation, will be blessed to have this principled conservative in Congress.

Thirty Years After Saying He Had "No Regrets" For Supporting Rev. Jim Jones, Willie Brown Now Says He's "Embarrased"

Last Sunday, former San Francisco Mayor "Slick" Willie Brown wrote the following in his Willie's World column in the San Francisco Chronicle.
It's that time of year again. The anniversary stories are rolling out, and one word says it all: "Jonestown."

Jim Jones and Jonestown were a real tragedy for George Moscone, for me, for John and Phil Burton, for all of us.

We had all gone over to Jones' church on Geary Boulevard. George even put him on the Housing Authority.

Jones did have an incredible following at the Peoples Temple and was a real pastor for diversity and for poor people.

What happened in Guyana was just horrible for us. We were obviously embarrassed at our lapse of judgment, our lapse of objectivity, our lapse of due diligence. We had no explanation for how stupid we were. We couldn't even be responsive to all these relatives whose folks had died.

For San Francisco, and those of us on the elected side, it was a very, very tough time.

Far from feeling "stupid" and "embarrassed," Willie Brown sang a far different tune exactly 30 years ago today, in the Chronicle (see below).

Assemblyman Willie Brown (D-SF) said yesterday he has "no regrets" over his past associations with Peoples Temple and its messianic leader, the Rev. Jim Jones.

"They's all like to say, 'Forgive me, I was wrong,' but that's bulls**t," said Brown. "It doesn't mean a thing now. It just isn't relevant."

Brown also said the following while introducing Jones in September 1976, "Let me present to you a combination of Martin King, Angela Davis, Albert Einstein ... Chairman Mao."

Hey Willie, don't you think it's 30 Years too late to weakly admit you were "embarrassed" about being associated with Jim Jones? Besides, Jonestown was really a tragedy more for the families of the almost 900 murdered, including 300 children, than it ever was for you.

The only tragedy where you're concerned, is that you, the Burtons, George Moscone, Harvey Milk, Carlton Goodlett and others did nothing to stop this madman, even when the belated media exposes came out against him and caused him to flee into the jungle of South America. For that, you all deserve eternal shame.

UPDATE WITH VIDEO: Moonbat Willacy County DA Comes Unhinged In Cheney Indictment Hearing

See Below for Updates

Outgoing Democrat District Attorney of Willacy County Juan Angel Guerra came unhinged in a hearing held today in the indictments against Vice President Dick Cheney, former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and others, according to USA Today.

A county prosecutor who brought indictments against Vice President Dick Cheney, former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and others pounded his fist and shouted at the judge Friday about special treatment for high-profile defendants as a routine motions hearing descended into chaos.

Willacy County District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra, who is accusing the public officials of culpability in the alleged abuse of prisoners in a federal detention center, asked Presiding Judge Manuel Banales to recuse himself. Guerra has complained about Banales' handling of the case.

Attorneys for the vice president and other defendants leapt to their feet in objection, as Guerra pounded the table and accused Banales of giving the defendants special treatment in allowing motions to quash the indictments to be heard before the defendants were arraigned.

"Now all of a sudden there is urgency," Guerra shouted. "Eighteen months you kept me indicted through the election." The charges against Guerra were dropped last year. Guerra lost re-election in the March Democratic primary.

Banales called a recess to contact the chief justice of the state Supreme Court for suggestions on how to proceed, and ordered Guerra, who had slipped out once before in the hearing, to remain in the courthouse.

KGBT-TV, the CBS affiliate in Harlingen, TX, has raw footage here of Guerra speaking with reporters, which should show how off his rocker Guerra is. The text of the indictment is also here. Basically, there is no there, there. He's accusing Cheney, Gonzales, and Democrat State Senator Eddie Lucio of profiting off the private prison systems which abuse people. Why is owning stock in a company a crime? If that's the case, why doesn't Guerra indict every American who has stock in the Vanguard Group?

Come to think about it, and in addition to my musings the other night of covering the Willacy County/Raymondville area as a cub reporter, I seem to recall dealing with this asshat a few times. The arrogant mannerisms in the KGBT interview are a giveaway, and the DA's office was on my beat.

This indictment is a joke and is another testament to the abuse of power of out-of-control district attorneys. Judge Banales, if he hasn't already, should throw these indictments out and throw soon to be ousted DA Guerra into the funny farm.

UPDATE: The hearing to continue on Wednesday, after DA Guerra asked Judge Banales to recuse himself. Acting like a mix between Jim Garrison and Saddam Hussein, Guerra came unhinged and yesterday's hearing ground to a halt with his demand that Banales recuse himself (see at 4:30 in video).

Obama's Litmus Test With Apointees: Gun Ownership

President Elect Barack Hussein Obama clearly has a litmus test for cabinet appointees, and I'm sure it will be the same for judicial appointees on gun ownership.

From The Politico:

President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team is asking potential appointees detailed questions about gun ownership, and firearms advocates aren’t happy about it.

The National Rifle Association has denounced the move, which has already led one Republican senator to consider legislation aimed at ensuring a president can’t use an applicant’s gun ownership status to deny employment.

It’s just one question on a lengthy personnel form — No. 59 on a 63-question list — but the furor over the query is a vivid reminder of the intensity of support for Second Amendment rights and signals the scrutiny Obama is likely to receive from the ever-vigilant gun lobby.

Obama’s transition team declined to go into detail on why they included the question, suggesting only that it was done to ensure potential appointees were in line with gun laws.

The question has members of transition teams and some Democrats scratching their heads.

...Paul Light, professor of public service at New York University, said there was no such question for potential appointees when President George W. Bush took office in 2000.

“It kind of sticks out there like a sore thumb,” Light said.

...Clay Johnson, deputy director of management at the Office of Management and Budget and the head of Bush’s 2000 transition, also didn’t quite understand the purpose of the question.

“It could be their way to say to prospects that they will have to answer all these questions sooner or later, so be prepared,” Johnson observed.

Matt Bennett, a veteran campaign operative who did a stint at Americans for Gun Safety and who now works for the moderate Democratic think tank Third Way, was equally befuddled.

“It strikes me as overly lawyerly,” he said, noting that only a small percentage of guns owned by adults are ever used improperly.

Only half-joking, Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) alluded to the shooting accident involving Vice President Dick Cheney, suggesting the query could be a better-safe-than-sorry measure.

“Given the behavior of the vice president under the last administration, you may want to know these things,” Ryan said.
Real funny, asshole!

This question is clearly not about making sure appointees aren't breaking gun laws. The Obama Administration is using this as a litmus test to get people in the administration who are hostile to the Second Amendment.

Take possible Attorney General appointee Eric Holder. When he's not overseeing pardons for FARC terrorists or tax-cheats like Marc Rich, Holder is hostile to guns, except when used by Federal Agents to scare Elian Gonzalez in their raid to send the child back to Communist Cuba. In 2007, Holder criticized the ruling of an appellate court which gutted Washington DC's anti-gun laws, saying the ruling "opens the door to more people having more access to guns and putting guns on the streets." As Deputy AG in the Clinton Administration, Holder, according to Instapundit:

...was a strong supporter of restrictive gun control. He advocated federal licensing of handgun owners, a three day waiting period on handgun sales, rationing handgun sales to no more than one per month, banning possession of handguns and so-called “assault weapons” (cosmetically incorrect guns) by anyone under age of 21, a gun show restriction bill that would have given the federal government the power to shut down all gun shows, national gun registration, and mandatory prison sentences for trivial offenses (e.g., giving your son an heirloom handgun for Christmas, if he were two weeks shy of his 21st birthday). He also promoted the factoid that “Every day that goes by, about 12, 13 more children in this country die from gun violence”–a statistic is true only if one counts 18-year-old gangsters who shoot each other as “children.”
No wonder so many Americans today are buying guns and/or stocking up on ammunition, while they're still free to pursue that constitutional right, as Melanie Morgan writes about today in WorldNetDaily.

I seem to remember how liberals screamed and whined about possible "litmus tests" against abortion used by both Bush Administrations. Conversely, liberals are never afraid when their side threatens rights guaranteed in the Constitution...the right to free political speech, as well as the right to keep and bear arms.

The Obama Recession In Full Force: Dow Down 22% Since Election Day

James Pethokoukis at US News & World Report reports that Wall Street has posted a 22 percent loss since Barack Hussein Obama won the Presidential Election on November 4th.

I heard Rush and others talk about this even before the election, how Wall Street and the business community was fearful of an Obama win, that many business would lay off employees after the election.

How bad is it going to get? Especially with a Democrat Congress and Obama emboldened to shove socialism down all our throats.

Pethokoukis notes what has worked in times like these, referring to a piece he wrote in November 2007, which he said:
Economists and politicians can argue about degree and detail—and they surely do—but generally keeping taxes low, competition fierce, and monetary policy tight are seen as the holy trinity of growth economics.
Don't look for that now under the Holy Socialist Trinity of Obama, Pelosi, Reid. It will be more taxes, more regulation and more spending.

Didn't I say 1979 was on the way?

Indictment Circus Against Cheney, Others, Continues Friday After Willacy County DA Skips Indictment Hearing

The story of the bizarre indictments handed down Tuesday against Vice President Cheney, former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales & others took a turn for the weird on Wednesday, as Willacy County District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra, a Democrat, didn't show up for the hearing

Visiting Judge J. Manuel Banales of Corpus Christi, TX presided over the hearing at the County Courthouse in Raymondville, TX, as District Judge Migdalia Lopez recused herself from the proceedings. She is one of the officials indicted by Guerra. Banales called Guerra's absence "a rarity," according to KRGV-TV, the ABC affiliate. They later reported that Banales postponed the rest of the hearing until Friday at 10:30 a.m. At that time, lawyers hope Banales will either squash the indictments or bring in an independent prosecutor.

Cheney, Gonzales, as well as Texas State Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. (D-Brownsville) Judge Lopez, District Judge Janet Leal, The GEO Group (formerly Wackenhut Corporation), former U.S. Attorney Mervyn Mosbacher, former special prosecutor Gus Garza and Willacy County District Clerk Gilbert Lozano must respond by Friday or petition in writing for the right to waive the arraignment. They do not need to be present in court and will not be arrested.

Motions filed by lawyers of the indicted will also be ruled upon Friday.

Lefties like Michael Moore and Bush Administration haters like Andrew Sullivan have been urinating in their pants with excitement over the indictment of Cheney. Not to rain on their parade, but DA Guerra is another out of control DA who is clearly abusing his elected post to get back at political enemies during his last days in office. He has delusions of being the next Jim Garrison

Guerra was indicted last year on felony charges of theft, attempted theft as well as alleging tampering with governmental records, perjury and abuse of official capacity, according to the Valley Morning Star in Harlingen. The charges were dismissed recently. District Judges Lopez and Leal, as well as Mosbacher, Garza and Lozano, were all involved in the investigation against Guerra.

In March, seventy percent of Willacy County voters in the Democrat Primary voted against re-electing Guerra as county DA. Sen. Lucio's office stated Guerra's political retributions have cost Willacy County "at least $876,000 in legal fees."

Instead of indicting the Vice President and others, perhaps Judge Banales should indict the outgoing DA of Willacy County, for abusing his office in the manner similar to fellow district attorneys Ronnie Earl and Mike Nifong.

Someone needs to be made an example of, why not start with Juan Angel Guerra?

Unrepentant Terrorist Ayers Questioned About Sirhan Sirhan Dedication in Book

Willacy County TX Grand Jury Indicts Dick Cheney & Others For Prisoner Abuse (???)

From FOXNews comes word that Vice President Dick Cheney and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales have been indicted on charges of abusing prisoners NOT at Club Gitmo, but in a Willacy County Federal Detention Center.
The indictment criticizes Cheney's investment in the Vanguard Group, which holds interests in the private prison companies running the federal detention centers. It accuses Cheney of a conflict of interest and "at least misdemeanor assaults" on detainees by working through the prison companies.

...Gonzales is accused of using his position while in office to stop an investigation into abuses at the federal detention centers.
KRGV-TV Channel 5 the ABC affiliate in nearby Weslaco, TX, also reports that Texas State Senator Eddie Lucio Jr., a Democrat, along with Willacy County District Clerk Gilbert Lozano, plus state district judges Migdalia Lopez and Janet Leal, have also been indicted. According to KRGV, his office plans to squash the indictment, but the station says the indictments have to be signed by a district judge.

Of all places, I never imaged that moonbats would exist in a desolate plate as Willacy County, TX. Or, at the very least, bored moonbats. I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley and the Willacy County Courthouse was one of beats when I interned for a daily newspaper there. It's the kind of area where not much happens, except every twenty years or so when a strong hurricane goes through the area. I remember spending one whole day in Raymondville doing nothing but getting quotes and researching the background of a elected official to use for his obituary, as he died later that summer from what some people told me was cirrhosis of the liver.

Hopefully, the district judge will have more sanity than the grand jury, throw out this case and then send them out to watch some more cars rust in the near tropic heat of South Texas.

Sgt. Tim at Mark Levin Fan found this video of Willacy County DA Juan Guerra, who had three indictments handed down against him in March 2007.

Judge Manuel Banales of the Fifth Administrative Judicial Region dismissed the indictments against Guerra last month.

Sounds like Guerra is playing a game of political playback. Even State Sen. Lucio alluded to such. He was quoted in this morning's Valley Morning Star in Harlingen, TX, saying:
"It is a shame that Guerra has chosen to dedicate his energy to fighting with his fellow public servants, rather than actually prosecuting criminals. Mr. Guerra's conviction rate was so low, and his dismissal rate so high, that he became known as the ‘Great Emancipator. Instead of focusing on the murderers, rapists, and drunk drivers he was elected to prosecute, Guerra filed at least 43 proceedings against other elected officials that he considered to be his political enemies."

30 Years Later, The Tragedy Which Could Have Been Prevented--Jonestown, The Result Of Bay Area's Liberal Political & Media Corruption

Today, November 18th, is the 30th anniversary of the murder/suicide in the jungle of South America, as 900 bodies of mostly Bay Area citizens of the Peoples Temple and their leader the "Rev" Jim Jones, were found at their compound in Guyana. Up until 9/11, it was the largest mass murder of American citizens.

The murder/suicide came right after US Congressman Leo Ryan (D-San Mateo) had been murdered by Temple members at the airport, along with some defectors.

In the thirty years which have followed, the Temple has been portrayed as a great experiment with good intentions gone wrong. Yet, sadly, the deaths and torture of Temple members, and the murders of a Congressman could have been prevented, had earlier warnings been heeded and politicians/civic leaders could have cared more about the people they were elected to represent. Instead, these mostly liberal politicians/media types, only saw the Temple Potemkin village they wanted to see, and ignored or silenced any of the warning signs until after it was too late.

Jones' ties to the liberal Democrat community in San Francisco are usually mentioned in passing. It was far greater than just a casual acquaintance. Many owed their political positions to him, namely San Francisco Mayor George Moscone & City Supervisor Harvey Milk. Moscone appointed Jones to head the San Francisco Housing Commission and defended him, up until that tragic day 30 years ago. Both were murdered nearly 10 days later by former Supervisor Dan White, in circumstances not related to Jonestown.

"...Mayor Moscone was terribly indebted to Jones, because Jones sent hundreds of cult members to dozens of precincts and brought a slim victory not only to Moscone but to the young Willie Brown and others in the local machine. It was no problem. For in fact Moscone’s District Attorney, Joseph Freitas—not at all by chance—had positioned Jones’ high-level aide, Timothy Stoen (member of the cult for several years), as attorney in charge of voter fraud. (I interviewed Stoen shortly after he broke out of the cult and admitted his terrible mistakes.)

But Moscone was more fearful than Willie Brown, Ralph Nader, and the rest of those politicos whom Jones got elected. The reason is that Jones knew all about the Mayor and his almost nightly visits to the Tenderloin District’s prostitutes. After all, if I knew about it by way of reporters I worked with and who chuckled about having followed Moscone’s limousine to his occasional rendezvous, you can bet that Jones not only knew, but let the Mayor know that he knew."

....The Bay Area elites saw Jones’ energy and how they could use it. The inner city crowd thought he was the answer to all problems, seen or unseen. Jones had invaded Bay Area ecclesiastical sanctuaries as well as political arenas throughout the State of California. Jerry Brown spoke from his pulpit, as did (Jimmy) Carter’s wife, Rosalynn. The Lieutenant Governor and Jones scratched each other’s backs to the bone, and even went to the Caribbean together. Indeed, this “Marxist Messiah” had managed more than ten years, scheming in and out and through the back alleys of California’s darkest political regions.

Jones succeeded because California was infested with liberals who laughed proudly at anyone to their right. They even scoffed at a couple of conservatives who shouted warnings into the deaf skulls of scoundrels unable to see past the glowing tips of their marijuana stogies."
Harvey Milk also owed his election as supervisor to Jones' Temple volunteers, a fact ignored by history (except by writer Randy Shilts) after his murder days after the Jonestown slayings. Even today, a new movie, Milk, starring Marin County's (soon to be former??) head moonbat, Sean Penn, ignores the ties to Jones & Peoples Temple.

Proof below of Milk's deep ties to Jones is a letter Milk wrote to President Carter in February 1978 to support Jim Jones in regards to a custody battle between the cult leader and his former advisor Tim Stoen over Stoen's son, whom Jones claimed was his. This was written after Jones had left San Francisco due to the bad publicity from media reports, five years too late (more on that later).

Milk is not the only celluloid work which ignores this inconvenient truth. Jonestown was the subject of a play and "documentary" in which it was portrayed as a great experiment in different races and cultures living in harmony that just went wrong. Never mind that the Temple leadership was all white, and large number Temple members were black. Jonestown, with its long work hours, could more accurately be seen as a 20th century plantation and Jones as a modern day slave owner rather than any sort of attempt at racial equality.

But that doesn't stop the apologists, many of whom are true-believing Leftists who still hold to the views which attracted them to the Temple.

"People did not join Peoples Temple so they could go down to a jungle and drink cyanide and die," said (Fielding) McGehee, whose wife, institute co-founder Rebecca Moore, lost two sisters and a nephew at Jonestown. "They joined wanting to make a better world, but in order to fulfill their dreams they made compromises and mistakes along the way that they shouldn't have." (SF Chronicle).
McGehee conveniently forgets that the Temple had been ordering shipments of cyanide for what it called "jewelry purposes" for years before the massacre. The mass suicide had also been rehearsed several times. To these apologists, the truth doesn't matter, because the greater ideal--socialist utopia--must be defended. Think I'm kidding? McGehee's wife, Rebecca Moore, wrote two books entitled "In Defense of Peoples Temple" and "A Sympathetic History of Jonestown." Moore even said on a recent MSNBC special on the Temple that "'cult' is a four letter word." Well. hell, with that reasoning, you could say 'Nazi' is a four letter word as well and make some lame brained claim about how great Hitler's Germany supposedly was.
"...the situation of desperate poverty experienced by African Americans seems not just unchanged, but even worse in 2005 than in 1978. The message of hope, the overcoming of racial inequality, and the level of security which Peoples Temple provided would be just as appealing today as it was back then. As if to illustrate this point, one former Temple member told us, if this had happened 30 years ago, the fleet of Temple buses packed with people and supplies, which Jim Jones would have sent down to New Orleans to help out, would have arrived before FEMA did. ...It is quite clear that, ...our government failed its citizens after Hurricane Katrina. It is also clear that these same failures are what prompted people to join Peoples Temple and to pack up and leave the United States for Jonestown."
Moore also wrote days after Jonestown, according to pg 146 of Dear People:
"Folks are anxious about the "death squads." I am going to prepare-leave some papers and evidence-in case I am "accidentally" killed in a robbery attempt, or some such bullshit. The FBI is the only "death squad" I know of. And their henchmen, the mafia."
Tim Carter is another Leftist who goes into similar rants. Attracted to the Temple after coming back "disillusioned" from the Vietnam War, Carter wrote recently about the 30th anniversary in which he compares the Bush Administration to Peoples Temple in "bullying" people over the Patriot Act. Carter also makes the untrue claim that Habeus Corpus has been suspended.

Similarly, the Chronicle article today also states: "The Rev. Cecil Williams of Glide Memorial Methodist Church says Jones was able to blind people with his charisma, and the catastrophe that occurred at Jonestown 'opened our eyes. We won't go along today with anyone who will run over poor people.'" Of course, Williams' eyes are still blinded. The only threat to poor people in his eyes are Republicans only, never his own liberal breathren.
Williams awarded Jones the 1977 Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian of the Year award (see above photo).

San Francisco media was complicit to the rise of Jim Jones, as a 1972 expose was cancelled after only four of eight articles ran in the San Francisco Examiner. The cancellation of the expose came after a protest by Jones and the Temple, as well as threats of lawsuits. There is no mention in the Chronicle story, nor in Tim Reiterman's AP article about these 1972 exposes and the cowardice of the Examiner editors. Thirty years after the fact, San Francisco media outlets are still covering their collective asses for their failure to stand up to this madman, which could have saved the lives of 900 people.

This week, when you read the stories of a "great social experiment gone wrong" keep in mind there's more than that. The themes of Jonestown echo today, in various forms. There are similar "cult of personality" types who sway crowds and who are protected by an adoring media.

In that vein, Santayana's saying "Those who don't remember the past are condemned to repeat it" (which hung at Jonestown) is highly prophetic.

VICTORY IN IRAQ DAY: November 22, 2008

Zombietime has declared November 22, 2008 as Victory in Iraq Day.

Why? How about this post from Michael Yon.
"THE WAR IS OVER AND WE WON:" Michael Yon just phoned from Baghdad, and reports that things are much better than he had expected, and he had expected things to be good. "There's nothing going on. I'm with the 10th Mountain Division, and about half of the guys I'm with haven't fired their weapons on this tour and they've been here eight months. And the place we're at, South Baghdad, used to be one of the worst places in Iraq. And now there's nothing going on. I've been walking my feet off and haven't seen anything."

Thank you to our brave men and women, for your service and sacrifice! We will celebrate your accomplishment here and everywhere on Saturday.

Unrepentant Terrorist Bill Ayers Hides From DC Freepers At Book Signing

Unrepentant Weather Underground domestic terrorist Bill Ayers came to Washington DC this evening to promote his book on race at an event sponsored by Busboys & Poets independent bookstore.

Freepers from the DC Chapter of FreeRepublic were there. Jonn from This Ain't Hell was there to cover it also (see for photos). Below is a video from TAH of highlights from the evening.

The appearance was moved from the bookstore to All Soul's Church at 1500 Harvard St., NW (which will now need gallons of Holy Water to purify the sanctuary after Ayer's appearance).

According to Jonn, Ayers didn't pass through the front door of the church, where the Freepers were. Instead, he snuck in the back door like a coward. His audience consisted of "about 100 mostly white, draft dodger types of the Vietnam era."

Apollo Astronaut Quits Planetary Society Partially Due To Glo-Bull Warming Agenda

Former Apollo 17 Astronaut & former US Senator from New Mexico Harrison H. "Jack" Schmidt sent an e-mail announcing his resignation from The Planetary Society. Schmidt, one of the last men to walk on the moon, stated he could no longer support the goals of the society, as their goals have become "more political than rational."

While most of Schmidt's disagreements dealt with how best for man to explore Mars, the subject of man made climate change or glo-bull warming, was listed in his reasons for leaving.
TPS Statement * accelerating research into global climate change through more comprehensive Earth observations

---As a geologist, I love Earth observations. But, it is ridiculous to tie this objective to a "consensus" that humans are causing global warming in when human experience, geologic data and history, and current cooling can argue otherwise. "Consensus", as many have said, merely represents the absence of definitive science. You know as well as I, the "global warming scare" is being used as a political tool to increase government control over American lives, incomes and decision making. It has no place in the Society's activities.

Now here's a scientist who sees through the "bull" in glo-bull warming.

Forgetting 9/11 & Disrespecting The Victims: Arizona College Kids Make Twin Towers Halloween Costume

Do you need another example of how far down the memory hole 9/11 has become?

A website entitled The Dirty (linked from Gateway Pundit) posted the photo below taken at a University of Arizona Halloween party of an airplane crashing into one of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. Notice also, the plastic figures of people falling from the "building."

"...when the girl was asked if she thought she would offend anyone she replied, “No, it’s cool, my aunt died on the 64th floor, and it was a conspiracy anyway.”

I'll bet you made your aunt proud, you dingbat!

Is it any wonder that jerks like these may have also voted for Obama, and been the key to his win?

Early reports are indicating that the youngest members of the country's electorate voted Tuesday in higher numbers than in the last presidential election — and they voted more Democratic. Youth turnout appears to be exceeding 2004 levels, which was itself a year with a big surge in voters ages 18 to 29.

...What’s more, young voters may prove to have been the key to Barack Obama's victory. Young voters preferred Obama over John McCain by 68 percent to 30 percent — the highest share of the youth vote obtained by any candidate since exit polls began reporting results by age in 1976, according to CIRCLE, a non-partisan organization that promotes research on the political engagement of Americans between ages 15 and 25.

Washington ComPost Loses 900+ Subscribers Over Pro-Obama Bias

That's the admission this morning from Deborah Howell, the ComPost ombudsman.
Thousands of conservatives and even some moderates have complained during my more than three-year term that The Post is too liberal; many have stopped subscribing, including more than 900 in the past four weeks.

It pains me to see lost subscribers and revenue, especially when newspapers are shrinking. Conservative complaints can be wrong: The mainstream media were not to blame for John McCain's loss; Barack Obama's more effective campaign and the financial crisis were.
First of all, Deborah, bias at the ComPost (and other media outlets) is not a perception, it's a fact. While it's true McCain has himself to blame for his loss, the hypnotic pro-Obama coverage by the ComPost, Associated for Obama Press and almost all the TV networks certainly helped in his defeat as well. That includes lies about alleged affairs and smears against Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, including outright lies published on left-wing blogs.

For all the empty carping about whether Palin was thoroughly "vetted" by McCain's campaign, the media didn't do their job in vetting Obama, his record and his past associations, for the American voter. Obama friend, Bill Ayers' background was all but ignored by the media (except talk radio and the blogosphere) until, surprise, he pops up for interviews after the election. Name for me any modern white politician who could survive politically after close associations with racist preachers and domestic terrorists. Obama got a free pass from the liberal media, who were sucked in by his rock star image.

Look at this photo, which ran on the ComPost's DNC convention profile of Obama. It corresponds with the "messiah" image which was also put forth by his Kool-Aid drinking fanatics.

Is this Moses or the Sorcerer's apprentice?

Besides the pro-Obama, negative McCain story slant, it was also those who opposed Obama, as well as attendees at McCain rallies. They were attacked as "racists" or were accused by one liberal ComPost reporter of yelling death threats toward Obama at a Palin rally, an accusation later proven false. Violent Obama-manics, as well as those who wore obscene anti-Palin t-shirts, received a blind eye from the media.

That also includes the videotape of Obama toasting former PLO member Rashid Kahlidi at a farewell dinner, where many attendees launched into anti-Israel statements. The liberal leaning LA Times, who (like the ComPost) endorsed Obama, refused to release the tape. I'm certain no time would have been wasted releasing an incriminating video of either McCain or Palin, if it existed.

Last Sunday's ComPost, for example, was unbearable to look at, as their pro Obama/Democrat Party coverage reached near masturbatory proportions. Chief among them, a pro-Obama feature story (not a news story) was above the fold on the front page.

As for Howell's promise that "after Obama is inaugurated, he will be the authority the news media challenge," that remains to be seen, if their previous coverage is any indication.

For all the lost readers and revenue, maybe the ComPost and the rest of the lib media can scream to Congress for a bailout, since the liberals they helped elect are in power.

Proposition 8 Backlash in California: The Chilling of Free Political Speech

Do you notice how nice the Left wants to be, when they win elections (witness the 52 to 48 malarkey)?

But when they lose, there's hell to pay. That's where Proposition 8, the California amendment which defines marriage as between a man and a woman, passed. Supporters of gay marriage have, in knee-jerk fashion, labeled supporters of Prop 8 as bigots and haters. That is, when gay marriage supporters aren't engaging in religious bigotry against Catholics and Mormons, as well as yelling the racial slur "nigger" at black passers by.

But it not enough to throw a public temper tantrum. Now the Gay Gestapo (GG) is targeting supporters of Prop 8 who donated to the campaign for boycott. Not just businesses mind you, but individuals. Look at this website created by the GG, listing businesses and individual donors to Prop 8.

Already, Scott Eckern , who was artistic director at the California Musical Theater in Sacramento, stepped down after the Gay Gestapo demanded a boycott of the group. With one scalp in their hands, they goosestepped down to the El Coyote Restaurant in Hollywood, whose owner donated $100 to Prop 8.

Diana West (linked from Michelle Malkin) writes of how the owner of the restaurant, Marjorie Christoffersen, was forced to express regret for the crime of giving a monetary donation to a cause she believed in. As West observes, "Thought police are now political donation police."

Here's the kind of "tolerance" the Gay Gestapo practices, as Derek A. writes on a review of El Coyote for
I will NEVER step foot in this overrated dump again! Mormons are the biggest hypocrites on the planet. Organized reigion sucks!THIS IS EXACTLY how you fight back. These people had no idea this list was public record. This is a prime example of bigots saying one thing to someone's face and then doing the opposite in private. I have no sympathy for what happens in the fallout. Her INSANE meeting was further proof how bigoted and stupid this woman is. SORRY! But those are the cold hard facts, people need to be held responsible for their actions especially those that are done covertly

He then followed up with:
Had to Re-review this place due to this stupid Marjorie bitch donating money to prop 8 supporters. Mormons are the biggest hypocrites on the planet so this really pisses me off considering I have gone here 15 years or more. I hope your business TANKS! Margaret Cho was right, DONT FUCK WITH GAY PEOPLE. Hit this bitch in the pocketbook. Yes she has a right to think or donate money to what she wants but WE have a right not to go here anymore. Last time I checked half her staff is gay and so is her clientele. What a stupid, stupid thing to do. But as we all know Mormons are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

Who's being the real bigot here, Derek A.?

If you read this blog and are anywhere near El Coyote, please go eat there and support Ms. Chirstoffersen. If I still lived in California I would do it myself.

If you or I cannot utter a political thought or opinion without the fear of some financial backlash, loss of employment or harm to our family, then you should be frightened, because we no longer live in a free nation. This is supposed to be the United States (and California is still a part of it), not Nazi Germany. Freedom of speech is not meant to apply to one point of view, but all sides.

For all their talk of "intolerance," the homosexual community is doing a great job of showing just how intolerant they are of anyone who dares to disagree with them.

Another Illegal Alien Who Committed Murder Was Given Sanctuary In San Francisco

Today's San Francisco Chronicle has one more example of how a recent murder was committed by an illegal alien given sanctuary by the city's Sanctuary City policy.
A teenager accused of stabbing a 14-year-old boy to death in a gang-motivated attack had been given sanctuary from deportation under San Francisco's previous practice of shielding young illegal immigrant felons from federal authorities, records show.

Rony Aguilera, 17, known as "Guerrillero," has been charged as an adult in the July 31 sword attack in the Excelsior neighborhood that killed Ivan Miranda, who police say was an innocent victim caught up in an act of gang vengeance. Authorities believe Aguilera is an illegal immigrant from Honduras, but he was never referred to federal officials after being arrested last year in an assault case, according to records reviewed by The Chronicle.

Aguilera is the second person this year to be charged with murder in San Francisco after having been protected from possible deportation under city officials' now-discarded interpretation of a sanctuary ordinance that barred agencies from cooperating with federal efforts to round up illegal immigrants.

In June, Edwin Ramos, now 22, an alleged illegal immigrant from El Salvador who compiled a record of gang-related crimes as a juvenile, was accused of fatally shooting Anthony Bologna, 48, and his sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16, in their car in the Excelsior.

Police believe that, like Ramos, Aguilera is a member of the MS-13 (Mara Salvatrucha) gang.

Everyone from Dianne Feinstein (mayor when the sanctuary policy was established) to Greasy Gavin Newsom has blood on their hands, as far as I'm concerened.

There needs to be a federal investigation and punishment for city officials who have aided and abetted these lawbreakers, two of whom have now murdered citizens of San Francisco. But in the upcoming Obama Administration, that's just wishful thinking.

Obama To Meet With Phony Soldiers From Iraq Vets Against The War; Blew Off Vets For Freedom Earlier This Year

According to a letter from IVAW Executive Director Kelly Dougherty (linked at This Ain't Hell), Barack Obama will meet with the group of anti-war "vets."
IVAW has been working to hold a face-to-face meeting with now President-elect and members of his staff. Our hard work has paid off! We’ve recently been contacted by a member of President-elect Obama’s veteran staff and will be meeting with representatives of both his Veteran and Foreign Affairs Committees this month. This is a huge opportunity for IVAW to assert our voice and perspective at a new level and to continue to demand accountability for ending the occupation.

We have been witness to the horror and violence of war and we are determined to give Americans a real eyewitness account of the occupations.
For those who don't know, being in Iraq War vet isn't a requirement for membership in IVAW, just being active duty since 9/11. Also, many IVAW members appear to be of the disgruntled variety, as their less than honorable or dishonorable discharges can attest (for infractions like, illegally smuggling a gun from Iraq).

It occured to me (and a quick web search confirmed this) that Obama had the chance back in April to meet with Iraq War Vets who belong to Vets for Freedom, and ignored them!

" On April 8, when two-dozen Illinois veterans went to his office for a meeting, Senator Obama was unwilling to meet with them. He was in the office, just wouldn’t come out. Sergeant (Garrett) Anderson was a member of that group."

So President-elect Obama, will ignore soldiers (as well as wounded ones you blew off in Germany) who've been to Iraq but will listen to phony soldiers with discipline problems who are armed with an agenda.

Tells a lot about the new President, doesn't it?

Note To ABC: GMA's Interview With Bill Ayers Would Have Been Helpful BEFORE the Election

Unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers was on Good Morning America this morning and showed why he is, well, unrepentant (Freedom's Lighthouse).

Contradicting Barack Obama's claim that Ayers was just a guy in the neighborhood, Ayers said he was a "family friend" and that he indeed did get his political start at a coffee held in Ayers' house.

Ayers again stated he felt he and the WU "didn't do enough" to stop the Vietnam War, as in the way of bombings and violence. He even stated the WU was "in the right" on the issue of Vietnam.

So Obama's friend and co-partner in the Woods Fund and Chicago Annenberg Challenge is stating he was right to bomb the Capitol, the Pentagon, several police stations, as well at the attempt to bomb a non-commissioned officers dance at Fort Dix, New Jersey. That was prevented when a mistake was made putting the bomb together blew up a Greenwich Village townhouse and sent several Weathermen (including Ayers' then girlfriend) on a one-way trip to Hell.

It would have helped if the media had done this kind of work BEFORE the election.

Now that the election is over and his "family friend" has been elected President, Ayers' is hitting the media circuit. He'll be near my neck of the woods on Monday, at Busboys and Poets, 14th St. and V St., NW, in Washington, D.C. for a book signing at 6:30 p.m. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it, due to my day job, but I understand my friends at FreeRepublic are planning to greet Ayers. Jonn at This Ain't Hell is planning to go as well, so I'll link to their reports when they are posted.

Bush Administration, NOT Al-Queda, To Be Targeted By Obama & New Democrat Majority

According to the Drudge Report:

Democrats prepare to move forward with investigations of the Bush administration... Developing...

"Plugs" Biden said this would happen in September, then denied it on FOX News after the tape had received exposure on talk radio and other outlets.

In doing a web search, Salon has an article which appears to be a likely source to Drudge's developing story, Obama's plans for probing Bush torture. According to Salon, they revealed similar plans back in July and August.
The Obama plan, first revealed by Salon in August, would emphasize fact-finding investigation over prosecution. It is gaining currency in Washington as Obama advisors begin to coordinate with Democrats in Congress on the proposal. The plan would not rule out future prosecutions, but would delay a decision on that matter until all essential facts can be unearthed. Between the time necessary for the investigative process and the daunting array of policy problems Obama will face upon taking office, any decision on prosecutions probably would not come until a second Obama presidential term, should there be one.

The proposed commission -- similar in thrust to a Democratic investigation proposal first uncovered by Salon in July -- would examine a broad scope of activities, including detention, torture and extraordinary rendition, the practice of snatching suspected terrorists off the street and whisking them off to a third country for abusive interrogations. The commission might also pry into the claims by the White House -- widely rejected by experienced interrogators -- that abusive interrogations are an effective and necessary intelligence tool.

So this is how the Democrats will fight the terror war? Attack the previous administration as the real terrorists and give a big cuddle to Islamofascists who have killed or seek to kill Americans? After two years of 400 plus partisan fishing expeditions into the Bush Administration, they want to do more, even while an economic crisis and a real War on Terror exists?

Somewhere, in a cave, the terrorists are smiling, thanks to Obama and his new Democrat majority, because the heat will be off.

Veterans Day 2008

U.S. President Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed an Armistice Day for November 12, 1919. The United States Congress passed a concurrent resolution seven years later on June 4, 1926, requesting the President issue another proclamation to observe November 11 with appropriate ceremonies. An Act (52 Stat. 351; 5 U. S. Code, Sec. 87a) approved May 13, 1938, made the 11th of November in each year a legal holiday; "a day to be dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be thereafter celebrated and known as 'Armistice Day'."

In 1953, an Emporia, Kansas, shoe store owner named Al King had the idea to expand Armistice Day to celebrate all veterans, not just those who served in World War I. King had been actively involved with the American War Dads during World War II. He began a campaign to turn Armistice Day into "All" Veterans Day. The Emporia Chamber of Commerce took up the cause after determining that 90% of Emporia merchants as well as the Board of Education supported closing their doors on November 11, 1953, to honor veterans. With the help of then-U.S. Rep. Ed Rees, also from Emporia, a bill for the holiday was pushed through Congress. President Dwight Eisenhower signed it into law on May 26, 1954.

Congress amended this act on November 8, 1954, replacing "Armistice" with Veterans, and it has been known as Veterans Day since.

With gratitude and thanks to veterans past and those currently serving, I salute you for your service.

McClintock Lead in Recount Widens

This was posted last night at Tom McClintock's website, about the recount in his race for a US House Seat.
Our lead has increased from 889 votes on Saturday to 1,092 votes Monday evening out of 318,384 counted, boosting our margin from 0.28 percent to 0.34 percent. We are receiving 50.17 percent of the votes counted and need 48.95 percent of the remaining 52,000 uncounted ballots. Better still, in every county our proportion of the vote is greater than election night, increasing our percentage margin by nearly 2 ½ fold.

Despite the promising trend, our lead is still razor-thin and the race could still flip on us. I’m told that the bulk of the absentee ballots should be finished by the end of the week and at that point, we should have a clearer picture.

Here's to hoping that the lead hold and even widens. Tom McClintock is one of the few voices of sanity in California. He is one conservative who will be needed in Washington DC and who would do a great job.
