Reporting From DC, Inside & Outside The Petraeus Hearings. Vets, Families & Supporters Come To The Hill
Vets for Freedom had a rally early this morning which I arrived to late to attend. Instead, I met up with Beverly Perlson, the founder of Band of Mothers (pictured below). Her son, who serves in the 82 Airbone, recently returned from a deployment in Afghanistan, where he's served three times already, in addition to one tour of Iraq. I stood with Beverly, other Band of Mothers, as well as fellow Freepers and Larry Bailey, chairman of Gathering of Eagles.
I decided a couple of hours later to head with some of our group to the Dirksen Senate Building, where Gen. Petraeus was giving his testimony. You could not go anywhere around Capitol Hill without running into several groups of Vets for Freedom. Below, one member spoke to a crowd about what they were doing in DC.
Upon arrival at the Dirksen Building, I decided to go in and see what I could find out. I came back out and motioned to the group of patriots an important person whom I ran into in the entrance and we needed to greet.
None other than the Senator from Chappaquiddick, Ted Kennedy. Like his father Joe did during World War II, Ted has done in the War on Terror--give aid and comfort to America's enemies.
Kennedy arrogantly passed by those of us yelling for him to support our troops (pictured above). He must have been late for happy hour. His car even drove the other way in order to avoid the troop supporters. I am happy to report that the senator was not driving.
Since the line to get into the hearing had died down, I decided to get in line and possibly get into the hearing, which I did around 12:10 p.m. There were two traitors from IVAW inside (one I recognized from seeing his scowling face on O'Reilly Factor), in addition to several Code Pinkos who were dressed in black Islamic headscarves with various pink signs of surrender. Conversely, there were several Vets for Freedom and Families United members in the hearing. There was also one woman from Pennsylvania who is a Gold Star Wife. Her husband was killed in Afghanistan 18 months ago. She told me she was on the Hill for her work, but heard of the Petraeus hearing and wanted to come by.
I had the misfortune being in the Hearing Room and listening to Sen. Hillary Rotten Clinton bring her Presidential campaign to the Petreaus hearing. She started off with a rambling diatribe about it being "irresponsible to continue a police that has not produced the results that have been promised." With the media cameras around her, the Hildebeast acted like a blowhard, playing to her constituents in Code Pinko by stating the Administration and it's supporters "ignore the cost of continuing their failed policies."
Failed polices? Violence is down, signs of reconciliation are in the air. I see more success than failure. The problem is, Senator, you want failure so you and your Party of Treason can benefit from it politically. May I ask you, Sen. Clinton, what is the cost for withdrawal from Iraq? More treasure and lives lost in the future and being seen as unreliable to the Iraqis and our other allies. Not taking the threat posed by both Iraq and Osama bin Laden during your alleged husband's watch is what led to 9/11 and the War in Iraq.
After the Hildebeast finished, I exited the hearing room and headed for the bathroom to upchuck. It took all the self-restraint I had not to stand up and yell "BULLS**T" during Hillary Rotten's stump speech.
Exiting the Hearing Room where the Petraeus Hearing was held this morning
Gen. Petraeus was scheduled to meet later this afternoon in the Hart Building and tomorrow with House members. Vets for Freedom and other groups will still be on The Hill to back up the good General and our troops.
It would great if people like Hillary Rotten and Barack Hussein Obama spent time with these folks and listened to their points of view. Unfortunately, as typified by the photo above of the stumbling, bumbling Sen. Kennedy, liberals don't want to hear about the success in Iraq or from the vets and families of those serving who support victory.
