IJ Watch--Burying Jihad in San Francisco Story

I knew it was coming.

I'm talking about the "non-coverage" of yesterday's Jihad in San Francisco by Omeed Aziz Popal, 29, of Fremont. I have not heard any national coverage of this on ABC or any other network news source.

Then I looked at the Marin Independent Journal this morning. Where was the story about yesterday's Jihad in San Francisco?

Buried in Section C, page 4.

Also, unless I'm totally blind, I did not see the story on their webpage today. What was the big news in the IJ today? "$50 Million in Pot Plants Seized" was the headline for the top fold story. Gee, I guess the 60's retreads of Marin (maybe some of the IJ staff?) are going to have to scrounge around for their next dope purchase.

But what else are we to expect from a newspaper that is so far Left of center. I'm sure it's because the editorial staff doesn't believe there is a war on terror. Look at the Leftist claptrap they allow on their editorial (and Sunday Lifestyle) page on a regular basis, like the liberal on Sunday whose column called our leaders "chickenhawks." This guy, Doug "Full of Baloney" Maloney gets to spout his liberal anti-American views on an almost monthly basis. If not him, it's Lynn Woolsey's propaganda or a terrorist apologist from the Appeasement and Injustice Coalition.

It doesn't end there either. The San Jose Mercury News is beginning the spin that it was "stress" over a recent trip to Afghanistan in which his bride was unable to come back to America with him.

Hamid Nekrawesh, 43, first cousin of Popal, also told the Mercury News, ``He was a very respectful, quiet, nice guy. I've never seen him do anything violent.''

Contrast that to a report from KTVU-TV 2 in which Popal said he was a terrorist. (see Jihad Watch for more). Also the fact that two people were struck near the Jewish Community Center raises red flags in my mind.

Let's see, there was the guy who shot people on Independence Day 1992 at LAX's El Al ticket counter. Most recently, we had a suicide bomber in Oklahoma last October, a similar hit & run Jihadist at UNC Chappel Hill and the Seattle Muslim who went on a shooting rampage at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. How quickly has the MSM covered up these stories as "isolated incidents" and/or made rationalizations like "wedding jitters" or "mental illness" as reasons for their deadly sprees?

Hit & Run Driver Injures 13, Kills 1 in Bay Area--Repeat of Jihad at UNC Chappel Hill?

One person was killed in Fremont and at least 13 were injured (numbers vary per reports) in San Francisco when a driver in an SUV went on a hit and run rampage.

According to DMV records, the owner of the SUV is Omeed A. Popal of Fremont.

Sgt. Neville Gittens, spokesman for the San Francisco Police Department, was quoted by KGO-TV 7 as saying, "He drove on sidewalks, streets, hit people on crosswalks. It runs the gamut."

Link to AP story on KGO-7 website.

This is very reminiscent of what happened in March when Mohammad Reza Taheri-azar ran into students at UNC Chappel Hill. For a flashback to that, see Jihad in NC: MSM Whitewash by Michelle Malkin.

How long will it be before the MSM in the Bay Area, including the San Francisco Comicle and the Marin Independent Journal whitewash this? Will the Muslim pressure group CAIR come to town and try to silence anyone who tries to link this with terrorism?

We shall be watching.

More coverage: KPIX-TV 5 website, KRON-TV, NBC Channel 11, sfgate.com.

From Little Green Footballs, according to SFGate photo, one attack happened in front of the Jewish Community Center.
UPDATE: Check Hugh Hewitt's blog. Some listeners have told him many of these attacks took place in Jewish neighborhoods.

Here's a quote from the PC Mayor Gavin Newsom, who called these attacks "road rage." "We made no assertions that this was a hate crime, though that is being investigated." Newsom said, also saying "it doesn't look in any way shape or form" like an attack related to "international relations." Hey Mr. Mayor, do you consider what went on outside City Hall on August 12th a hate crime?

The whitewash begins from the Mayor's office!

Illegal Immigrant Supporters Replace U.S. Flag With Mexican Flag At Post Office

In Maywood CA this past weekend, suporters of illegal immigration went to the town post office and replaced the American flag with the Mexican flag on the post office flagpole.

See Michelle Malkin's blog for more details, photos and a video of the illegal supporters violently confronting counter protesters. Michelle also notes that these antics have received zero press coverage from the MSM.

More photos are also available at Save Our State.

..And they only come here to do the jobs American's won't do. Yeah right!

Hurricane Katrina (D-Louisiana)

I am not writing the following to minimize or downplay the destruction that occurred a year ago from Hurricane Katrina.

Let's face it, Katrina was one of the most devastating storms to hit the United States. It was very reminiscent of Hurricane Camille in 1969 in terms of destruction.

As with 9/11 and the Christmas 2004 Tsunami, we saw the best in the American people once again. Without being prompted, Americans united to send food, clothes, money, supplies and volunteers to New Orleans and the Mississippi/Alabama coast. There is no denying the generosity and compassion of Americans seen time and time again when their neighbors are in need.

What bothers me about this anniversary is those who used (and continue to use) the death, damage and suffering of New Orleans as political battering ram against President Bush and Republicans. Many Democrat legislators, pundits and allies said Katrina was caused by global warming due to Republican environmental policies. (Gee, why did they say that back in 1969 with the 200 mph winds of Camille?) Some used it to claim the National Guard (as well as Federal money) is needed more for domestic purposes instead of fighting the War on Terror (which Iraq is a part of). Others used the storm for the purpose of dividing America by race and class, that the “cracker“ Republicans somehow don‘t care about Blacks. Frankly, I'm surprised that Hurricane Katrina has not yet been made an honorary member of the Democratic party.

Already, this first anniversary of the storm is being used for political purposes. Witness the racist director Spike Lee's HBO documentary on Katrina. (Click here for Star Parker's rebuttal to Lee's propaganda) Read the stories this weekend from the Washington ComPost and other MSM outlets. They all have the same resounding chorus: It's All Bush's Fault!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that mistakes were not made at the Federal level. But, as anyone who has prepared or gone through a hurricane knows, the local and state governments are supposed to be the first responders. They are the people responsible for evacuating their citizens, getting shelters, calling the National Guard, etc. What would have happened if the President left Crawford TX, with the National Guard in tow, to take over evacuation and storm preparation in New Orleans? He’d probably be blasted in the media as an overzealous power grabber. His enemies would say it proves their claim that he is the second coming of Adolf Hitler.

Ray "School Bus" Nagin's legacy, Use Buses on Election Day Only!

Instead, America was treated to a Democrat mayor & governor who played a game of "pass the buck" in order to cover for their failures. President Bush declared New Orleans a disaster area before the storm even hit. Mayor Ray Nagin, despite Bush's warnings to evacuate the city immediately, didn't give the mandatory evacuation order until hours before the storm was due to make landfall. (Check out this thread on FreeRepublic.com as events unfolded.) Governor Kathleen Blanco finally had to accept blame for her failures after being caught on camera saying she should have called the National Guard sooner.

What does New Orleans have to show for their efforts (as well as the generosity of America) a year later? Before his re-election last Spring, Nagin vowed to make New Orleans "a chocolate city" and now claims "racism" as one reason for the slow rebuilding process. He even went as far as to attack the sacred ground where the World Trade Center once stood as just "a hole in the ground." You should know better, Mr. Nagin. Unlike the unforeseen terrorist attack of 9/11, you knew a disaster was coming and you didn't prepare. Ground Zero was cleaned up in less than a year because adults were running the City and State of New York. Look how neighboring Mississippi is moving ahead in clean-up and rebuilding. Compare that to New Orleans, whose mayor sounds like a gangsta rapper while he blames everyone else but himself for the failure to evacuate and rebuild his city.

It would have been fitting to remember the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and honor its victims in a solemn and respectful manner. Instead, it’s become just another opportunity for the Democrats and their allies in the MSM to use the dead for political gain. We saw it at the Paul Wellstone and Coretta Scott King memorials, as well as (when they’re not stabbing them in the back) those in the military killed while fighting in the War on Terrorism. For all their exploitation of the dead, perhaps Howard “the Duck” Dean should consider changing the symbol of the Democratic Party from the jackass to the buzzard.

Jeeni Criscenzo: Another Example How The Democratic Party Endorses Treason

From Kristinn at FreeRepublic.com comes information about Democrat Jeeni Criscenzo, who is running against Republican Incumbent Darrell Issa's seat in the 49th Congressional District.

Criscenzo has a blog on the extremist Daily Kos website, where she recently wrote about a trip she made to Amman Jordan with people from Code Pinko and 1960's anarchist Tom Hayden.

Some of what Criscenzo wrote includes the following:
"It is important to distinguish between the militia, or death squads and the resistance, particularly when considering the amnesty aspects of the Reconciliation Plan crafted in Cairo last month. Over 95% of the Iraqi people oppose the presence of the U.S. troops in their country and consider the people the U.S. call "insurgents" to be patriotic freedom fighters -- no different that how we look at the people who fought in our Revolutionary War. Heroic titles go to the victors and if justice is to ever come to the people of Iraq, the people we call insurgents will have to be recognized as the ones who are actually defending their homeland."

Her tone is no different from Cindy Sheehan, who also referred to the terrorists in Iraq as "freedom fighters."

Criscenzo is also a big supporter of the Democrat move to impeach President Bush for fulfilling his constitutional duty to defend America from foreign enemies. Here's a photo of her taken from ImpeachPAC. (she's on the furthest to right in the photo)

Here's some of her comments about President Bush, a good view into the mind of someone suffering from BDS (Bush Deraignment Syndrome). (h/t tgslTakoma)

"George W. Bush is a dictator in president's clothing. He and his cabal have raped our Constitution, depleted our treasury, sent our kids to go kill and torture other people's kids for the personal enrichment of his cronies and left the poor people of New Orleans to die or become permanently displaced, conveniently remaking that diverse Democratic city, at one of the centers of the U.S. petrochemical industry, into a white, Republican stronghold.

"The future of our country is balancing on a precarious precipice. The Bush cabal is moving full-speed ahead in their plans to establish the Global Empire of Halliburton…. Our only chance to stop this nightmare is to take back Congress THIS YEAR. That means winning a majority in November AND making impeachment of Bush and Cheney our first priority."

As disappointing as many Republicans in Congress have been, the stakes are way too high to put power in the hands of a Democrat majority. Especially traitors like Jeeni Criscenzo who give aid and comfort to the terrorist scum in Iraq.

America Not Sophisticated Enough for Tony Bennett

Tony Bennett thinks America is culturally lacking, compared to the rest of the world.

"I have travelled around the world to Asia and Europe. They show you what they have contributed to the world. The British show you theatre, the Italians show you music and art, the French show you cooking and painting, and the Germans show you science(?). The only thing that the United States, which is still a young country, has contributed culturally to the world is jazz - elongated improvisation. It's tragic."

Well Tony, what nation invented rock 'n' roll, the Blues, Country & Western music, motion pictures, baseball & basketball, just to name a few things.

America! Now, go back to your brie and champagne!

(While Washington Fiddles) Terrorists Enter U.S. From Mexico

Not everyone crossing the border illegally is doing so for a job. From Cybercast News Service: Texas Sheriffs Say Terrorists Entering US from Mexico.
"Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez of Zapata County, Texas told Cybercast News Service that Iranian currency, military badges in Arabic, jackets and other clothing are among the items that have been discovered along the banks of the Rio Grande River. The sheriff also said there are a substantial number of individuals crossing the southern border into the U.S. who are not Mexican. He described the individuals in question as well-funded and able to pay so-called 'coyotes' - human smugglers - large sums of money for help gaining illegal entry into the U.S. "
They don't necessarily need human smugglers to get across the border either. It's easy to jump on a freight train entering the country from any of the border towns. Even then, there's areas in deep South Texas where there's a lot of brush that makes for good hiding spaces. I remember once (circa 1989-90), seeing two Hispanic men on the King Ranch who were picked up by a passenger bus headed north, which they waved down past the Border Patrol checkpoint. People who stopped along the side of Highway 77 between the Rio Grande Valley and Kingsville Texas, also ran the risk of being overrun by illegals who might forcefully steal their car.

Also in the CNS story, military style patches in Arabic have been found in several South Texas counties.
"Sheriff Wayne Jernigan of Valverde County, Texas, told members of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee in March about one patch that read 'midnight mission' and displayed an airplane flying over a building heading towards a tower. Translators with DHS have said some of the various phrases and slogans on the items could mean 'martyr,' 'way to eternal life,' or 'way to immortality'."

Patch found in South Texas shows plane headed toward building (CNSNews)

Today's NSA Ruling: Lynn Woolsey & Other Democrats Joined Suit Stopping Terrorist Surveillance Program

A powerful tool in the fight against terrorism, the NSA terrorism surveillance program, was struck down today by Detroit Federal Judge (appointed in 1979 by Jimmy Carter) Anna Diggs Taylor.

Besides her appointment by Carter, there is another Democrat link to this case which provides more proof how the Democratic Party cannot be trusted with the security of this nation.

In May, we posted a link from a Leftist website, The Raw Story, which reported that Woolsey and 70 other Democrats (plus Socialist Bernie Sanders) filed two briefs of amici curiae in support of the plaintiffs in this case. The plaintiffs include the Al-Queda Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Center for (un)Constitutional Rights, the terrorist apologists from the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), Greenpeace and Leftist writer Christopher Hitchens.

(Copy of the brief, posted on The Raw Story. List of names begins on pg. 7. PDF required)

Along with Woolsey, other Bay Area Congresspersons who signed the brief include Fortney Pete Stark, Michael Honda, Tom Lantos, Barbara Lee & Zoe Lofgren.

Interestingly, the first signator of this brief is John Conyers, who has parts of Detroit in his Congressional district. Conyers, who would become Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee if (God forbid) the Democrats should seize control of the House in November, has stated his intention to begin impeachment proceedings against President Bush. This begs the question, is there any special cooperation between Conyers and Judge Taylor, in an effort to bolster a partisan case to impeach Bush.

Marin residents, as well as others in the Bay Area, need to hold these Congresspersons accountable for hindering the fight against terrorism. They are putting all of our lives in jeopardy because of their pathologically psychotic hatred of President Bush.

"World Trade Center" & Marin's Narcissism (or "Sitting In Front of a Vocal Bush-Hater")

Director Oliver Stone has done something I thought was impossible. He made a great movie about September 11, 2001 and managed to stay off the "Grassy Knoll" in the process.

I, along with my wife and father-in-law (visiting from the East Coast) went to see World Trade Center this past Saturday night. If you need a reminder of why we are at war today, I recommend (as I did with United 93, coming out on DVD in about three weeks) seeing this movie. True, it is not an all encompassing tale of what happened that day, yet you get the graphic reminders.

One of which was footage of one WTC victim falling to their death, which has been banned from replay on TV networks to help us forget. As the Port Authority officers are in the building you hear loud sounds hitting the ground and lower roofs, no doubt the sound of falling bodies as well as debris. You also imagine the horror of what it was like to be in one of the towers as it fell. Finally, at the end of the movie, one of the Marines who helped in the rescue is seen talking on a cell phone. He tells the person on the other end that he's going away, because someone "needs to avenge this."

Conversely, though not in the movie, we saw reminders of the problem, being the typical narcissism and divisiveness of Marin County liberals both in and outside the theatre.

The theatre we attended was not even close to halfway full (the same as when I saw United 93) though the ticket booth and lobby was crowded. I’m sure many of them were seeing "feel good" movies also being shown that evening, like Step Up or Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

Then came the one and only moment President Bush was shown in the movie.

From the row behind us, we heard an obnoxious voice utter "that monster." My wife, though not a fan of President Bush's, beat me to the punch and told the jerk "No, the terrorists are the monsters!"

"Why don't you be quiet," the jerk responded.

"Why don't you go (expletive) off!" I told the guy, who looked like he might be Michael Moore's evil twin.

The other reminder of the problem came the next morning in the Sunday paper. With the movie still on our minds, we had the misfortune of running across Beth Ashley's column "Dealing With Tragedy of 9/11 Still Too Painful" in the Lifestyles section.

Ashley, also doubles as a reporter for the IJ, has written stories which sympathize with the traitor John Walker Lindh (a.k.a. "Ratboy) and others promoting Leftist events. She's an admitted "anti-war activist" even stating one of her heroes was a draft dodger from Mill Valley. She regularly uses her Lifestyles column as a soapbox to attack President Bush, the War on Terror, and America in general.

Here's some of what she wrote. "I went...hoping to find some solace, but there wasn't much to be found....Remembrance of 9/11 will always be with us, but it will be years before we can handle it....Coming to terms with 9/11 seems impossible right now."

Notice Beth's tone in her "review." There's no coming out of the movie with a feeling of patriotism or "let's get those evil bastards before they do it again." Instead, it's all about Beth. The column is full of Ashley's self-indulgent, touchy-feely, psychobabble typical of a Marin County Leftist. The reason it's impossible for Beth to "come to terms" with 9/11 because, God forbid, she might want to lay her partisanship aside, wave the flag and feel the need to support our military, as well as it's Commander in Chief.

But Marin County Leftists feel any signs of supporting the War on Terror is a "right-wing" thing. In the process, they ignore the fact that the Muslim terrorists on 9/11 killed people from 87 nations, no doubt from different political perspectives. They refuse to see that, if given the chance, these Islamofascists would kill any Leftist just as quickly as they would kill myself or any other "right winger." It doesn't make any difference to them.

So, take my advice and go see World Trade Center. I understand if the name "Oliver Stone" scares some of you, but you'll be missing a great movie and another reminder of what we are up against.

Zombie Photos from SF Pro-Hizballah Rally Yesterday

Anti-Semitism on parade yesterday in San Francisco

Zombie, Bay Area photojournalist extraordinare, has numerous photos of the Pro-Hizballah rally yesterday in San Francisco, which was sponsored by A.N.S.W.E.R. (front group for the Marxist Workers World Party and apologist for Islamofacist terrorism).

More coverage from San Francisco and Washington D.C. is available at Little Green Footballs and FreeRepublic.com.

I found the photo below also on FreeRepublic (originally from SFGate, which also has photos of the counter protesters who showed up).

Bush Names Enemy--CAIR Offended

After the plot to blow up 9 to 10 airliners in mid-air was exposed, President Bush accurately named our enemy as "Islamic facists."

Natually, CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) is offended.

From LGF: CAIR Goes Nuts Over Bush Remark.

“We believe this is an ill-advised term and we believe that it is counter-productive to associate Islam or Muslims with fascism,” said Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations advocacy group.

“We ought to take advantage of these incidents to make sure that we do not start a religious war against Islam and Muslims,” he told a news conference in Washington.

“We urge him (Bush) and we urge other public officials to restrain themselves.”

Well BOO F**KING HOO!!!!!!!

FLASHBACK: Who were the people who attacked us on September 11, 2001?

No, don't see any Irish-Catholics, WWII Medal of Honor winners or Southern Baptists here.

How about the names of those arrested in this plot?

How about this poll which Michelle Malkin noted yesterday?

Note to CAIR: Many of us are tired of your antics which you continously employ when a terror attack occurs or a plot is foiled. You know, how you call your critics "Islamophobic" and try to intimidate them into silence. I don't seem to recall Jerry Falwell or any Catholic priest excusing abortion clinic bombers. We need Muslims to act as Americans first and step up to the plate by cooperating with law enforcement and Homeland Security. If all you want to do is keep intimidating Americans into silence, well, this is what I have to say to you.

Wallace & SeeBS Host Enemy Propaganda

Retired 60 Minutes host Mike Wallce has come out of retirement. He has interviewed Adolf Hitler's reincarnation--Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, which will appear on tonight's See BS Evening News and Sunday's 60 Minutes.

What did Wallace say about the scum who has said he wants to wipe Israel off the map?

"He's actually, in a strange way, he's a rather attractive man, very smart, savvy, self-assured, good looking in a strange way."

Remember this is the same Mike Wallace who once said that, ""Blacks and Hispanics were too busy eating watermelons and tacos to read the fine print on phony insurance policies." When confronted about this statement, he admitted uttering it, going further to state that, because he is Jewish, he has sometimes referred to Jews as "kikes."

Why He's Called "The Great One"

Talk Show host (and Marooned in Marin favorite) Mark Levin brilliantly sums up the aftermath of Joe Lieberman's loss last night in his National Review Online blog.

Lieberman - A Profile In Courage

I've not always been a big fan of Joe Lieberman.

Despite that, I have to say that he is someone who has tried to maintain a modicum of decency and done his best most of the time to stand on principle, even if it is unpopular with his party. Specifically, he understood that national security should not be a partisan issue, that America (and Israel)'s biggest threat is not George W. Bush, but Islamofacist terrorism.

That is why Lieberman, a Voice of Reason, was silenced by the Democratic Party of Treason last night. They are a party that only seeks to avenge Elections 2000, 2004 and the impeachment of B.J. Clinton instead of the attack on America on September 11, 2001. They are a party that is bankrupt of ideas and vision, but simmering with rage and hate at the sitting President. For people who love to lecture the rest of us about the "right to dissent," the Democrats and their puppetmasters (George Soros, MoveOn.org, Daily Kos, "Fatboy"Michael Moore, Howard "the Duck" Dean) have sent a message--no dissent allowed. Goosestep to the party line or you will be "Liebermaned."

I believe Joe Lieberman is what fellow Democrat John F. Kennedy called a "Profile in Courage." He was not willing to sell out his nation's security to what was best for his party.

Try telling that to Caroline Kennedy. Earlier this year, she decreed the 2006 Profiles in Courage recipient to be none other than Jackoff Murtha. What did he do that makes him deserving of that award? The Benedict Arnold award and a yellow streak is more fitting for Murtha.

The Democratic Party puppetmasters may be celebrating today. I hope they enjoy it now because it will be short lived, as I believe Lieberman will be re-elected and Democrats will deservedly fall short in their desperate bid to regain the power they think is their birthright.

We're Back

After a hectic July on the business front, a nice vacation followed by a brief illness, Marooned in Marin is back.
