I went last night to the neighborhood theatre to see the movie. Since hearing about the controversy over the trailer being pulled from some theaters, as well as recommendations from families and others, I looked forward to watching it with my own eyes. And my expectations were met.
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Though we all know the outcome, I never wanted to leave my seat or become distracted by anything else, until the movie was over. That indicates how good this movie really is.
There was no hidden political agenda by the filmmaker. Instead, it was as Dragnet's Jack Webb would say; "Just the facts, ma'am." You'll feel a mix of emotions all at once. Uneasiness as the movie begins, knowing what's in store for everyone involved that day. Hearing the passengers say their final goodbyes to loved ones brings a mix of sadness for the victims and their families, plus rage at the monsters who committed such a horrendous act.
The Muslim terrorists who hijacked the plane were not portrayed sympathetically or in a politically-correct manner. They were shown for the evil scum they were. You saw the terrorists praying to their "God" for the strength to kill innocents. Conversely, you see the passengers pray for the power and strength to defend themselves, their nation and triumph over evil. I did notice a slight difference in the way the passengers confronted the terrorists, compared with TV movies on A&E and The Discovery Channel.
I cannot say enough about United 93. Contrary to those who are comfortable with their heads in the sand, it is not "too soon" for this movie. As far as I'm concerned, it should have been made years ago. I hope that America goes out by the droves to see United 93 and awake to the evil that threatened us not just that day, but ever since. I'm horrified to see how far this nation has gone back to sleep. How elected officials and activists in a certain political party and their allies act like the Bush Administration is a bigger threat to America than the Islamofacists who planned and committed the butchery on 9/11. How too many Leftists brag on websites how they're "over" 9/11.
United 93 is a reminder how we felt that day and the sense of resolve we felt to confront evil in our time. One day, when our son is older, I plan to show him this movie, along with the taped footage from 9/11 that the networks will no longer show. I want him to know of the sacrifice and bravery of those heroes who fought back on that day. Plus, the added lesson that you cannot negotiate or compromise with an evil force that seeks to kill those who don't believe as they do.

In an interview with the Novato Advance, "Looney Lynn" expressed concern about earthquake response, because North Bay units of the California National Guard are in Iraq. Here, she's using one of the fallacious talking points of the Left, that the National Guard is off in Iraq when it should be in the United States.
However, Lynn left out that Iraq is not the only overseas deployment of the California National Guard. Units are also in Afghanistan, Kosovo, Bosnia, Club Gitmo and the Sinai Desert. One article around the time of Hurricane Katrina stated 5,300 troops were assigned to federal missions. The State Guard's force totaled (at that time) 15,489.
That is another way of how Woolsey twists the truth to her advantage. She's done it in interviews and constituent literature about No Child Left Behind, which she regurgitates the DNC talking point that it is "underfunded." Yet, as pointed out on FactCheck.org, federal aid for elementary & high schools "increased 33 percent under Bush, according to the Congressional Research Service."
In the Advance interview, Woolsey is non-apologetic about the antics of her guest for the State of the Union address, Cindy Sheehan. She blamed the Secret Service for "engineering" the arrest because "Bush doesn't like opposition...It's a freedom of speech thing, I'd do it again."
Really Lynn? I know people who've personally expressed polite disagreement with you describe your response as rude.
Speaking of rude, Woolsey gave the cold shoulder to an American Israel Public Affairs Committee delegation. According to Dick Spotswood's Sunday column in the Marin IJ, the group asked Woolsey to co-sponsor a bill that put four conditions on the Hamas-led Palestinian government before the United States would give them money. These conditions included Israel's right to exist, disarm militias, renounce violence and remove those tied with terror from security forces.
Being true to her membership in the Treason Lobby, Woolsey refused to co-sponsor the legislation. Spotswood pointed out how her move probably pleased the local appeasement & injustice groups happy. Woolsey participated a Christmas 2002 event with the Marin Appeasement & Injustice Coalition. This group has also held a "Palestinian Film Festival" in Mill Valley and members allegedly passed out flyers in the town's 2004 Memorial Day Parade, stating "Jews Are Responsible for 9/11."

A sign from the April 15th rally for Anthony Soltero in Los Angeles
The boy, Anthony Soltero, has now become a “martyr“ to open borders advocates. His mother even labeled him as "a hero" at a Palm Sunday mass.
School officials, according to news reports, said the student, Anthony Soltero and others did not take part in protests. Instead, they went to a friends house and a store, returning to school at lunch. The only punishment Soltero and others faced, according to the school, was not being allowed to attend a class field trip or the year end dance.
Soltero claimed in his suicide note that the vice principal threatened him with three years in jail, and his parents could have to pay fines. Now, Ontario-Montclair School District Superintendent Sharon McGehee said the district received some calls where threats had been made against the vice principal.
Yet the family attorney, R. Samuel Paz, would not release a copy of Soltero's suicide note. Why not?
This is when I became suspicious. I did a search of attorney Paz and my suspicions were verified. Paz is a "civil rights attorney" who was nominated (unsuccessfully) by former President Bill Clinton for a spot on a federal court in the Central District of California. Paz is a member of the Southern California ACLU board and was a past president. He took part in an April 19, 2003 ACLU Foundation Reception entitled "Our Children, Our Freedom" where "the latest threat against the civil rights movement: the USA Patriot Act" was discussed. Paz is best known as an attorney specializing in cases against police officers. He is Vice President of the National Police Accountability Project, a branch of the radical National Lawyers Guild.
While more will be learned, I have a feeling this boy’s suicide is being used by the open borders crowd and his family (with the help of this ACLU/NLG slip and fall laywer Paz) as agitation against the school and to fuel future protests among the pro-illegal immigrant advocates. We’ve seen how the Vultures of the Left are using Cindy Sheehan by exploiting her son, Casey, to further their means. That’s why I suspect the same thing is happening with Anthony Soltero.

The author, Wade Zirkle, is a two-tour Iraq veteran and executive director of Vets for Freedom, which has been added to our growing links list.
"Like so many others past and present, I proudly volunteered to serve in the military. I served one tour in Iraq and then volunteered to go back. Veterans continue to make clear that they are determined to succeed in Iraq. They are making this clear the best way they can: by volunteering to go back for third and sometimes fourth deployments. This fact is backed up by official Pentagon recruitment reports released as recently as Monday.
The morale of the trigger-pulling class of today's fighting force is strong. Unfortunately, we have not had a microphone or media audience willing to report our comments (Emphasis ours). Despite this frustration, our military continues to proudly dedicate itself to the mission at hand: a free, democratic and stable Iraq and a more secure America. All citizens have a right to express their views on this important national challenge, and all should be heard. Veterans ask no more, and they deserve no less."

Like the majority of the mainstream media, the Marin IJ stuck to the liberal playbook in promoting the illegal immigration rallies held yesterday across the nation and in San Rafael.
How did they do that? Simple. Subtract the word “illegal” and change it to “pro-immigration” rally.
After all, you’re not against immigrants are you? You’re not a racist?
The “pro-(illegal)-immigrant” slant was evident in IJ Reporter Tad Whitaker’s story on the rally in San Rafael, as well as coverage of State & National rallies which promote citizenship for people who broke immigration law.
What was missing from these stories was the background of one of the key organizers of these events nationwide, International ANSWER. The IJ, as well as the rest of the MSM covers up the extremism of this anti-American group, formed three days after September 11, 2001 for the purpose of blaming America for the attacks.
Will the IJ continue it’s pro-illegal immigrant coverage and cover-up of International ANSWER in covering the May Day rallies? Based on their past, what makes us think they won’t?
Entitled "A Little Common Sense Needed in Solving Illegal Immigration Problem," Ashley's piece fell short of offering common sense solutions to enforce our immigration laws. Instead, all she offered was demagoguery of those who wish to enforce the laws, labeling them as "extremists."
Ashley went a step further in this paragraph:
"Will the far right ever top its negativism, branding anyone who's not white or rich or fundamentally Christian as somehow unworthy? Must we always turn the issues into us-against-them."
Here, Ashley descends into race-baiting, class warfare and Christophobia - tactics her and other Leftists commonly use because they cannot intellectually debate issues. All they respond with are ad-hominem personal attacks because they are only guided by emotion, rather than reason. She isn't the only one, Democrat attack dog Bob Beckel called those in the House who passed H.R. 4437 "thugs" on Tuesday's edition of Hannity & Colmes. California Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez called the House majority "rednecks" at a pro-Illegal Alien rally.
What all these people don't get is that it isn't just the "far-right" or "whites" who want to secure our borders. I've heard many self-proclaimed liberals who are just as opposed to illegal immigration as those on the right. Polls show that Hispanics who legally immigrated to the United States are strongly opposed to legalizing illegal immigrants. I guess that makes a lot of liberals and Hispanics “rednecks.”
There's one other fact that is lost on Ashley and her Leftist comrades. There are laws that don't allow immigrants the right to protest or wave a foreign flag. Immigrants risk deportation for bad-mouthing the president and his policies. Plus, those who enter the country illegally are felons and are hunted down by the authorities.
But before you scream "extremist" Beth, let me finish. These laws aren't here in the United States. As Rush Limbaugh pointed out, these are the immigration laws of Mexico.

It happened once again this past Friday, as Cindy Sheehan, who once called terrorist insurgents in Iraq "freedom fighters" spoke to around 1,000 students at Lowell High School in San Francisco that morning. The event was organized by the school's "Revolution Youth Group" (any relation to these fellow travellers in Petaluma?).
The only opposing voices were 40 counter-protesters (joined by about 15 Lowell students) led by Melanie Morgan of KSFO-AM and Move America Forward. Morgan had offered the school a Gold Star Parent as a counter to Sheehan's anti-America rhetoric, but that offer was turned down.
The Lowell High School event comes a month after San Rafael High School facilities were used by terrorist apologists in Marin County in an evening rally against military recruiting.
Other events included a January 2003 "teach-in" at Oakland Schools and an anti-war rally at Drake High School in Fairfax, CA. It isn't limited to public schools either. The Marin IJ showed a photo in its March 23 edition of a rally against the war at Marin Academy in San Rafael. David Harris, a 1960's anti-war activist, was one of the speakers.
The common thread in all these events is that these students are not given an opposing viewpoint from the anti-American, anti-Military brainwashing school administrators are giving them at these events. Why are Gold Star Parents who support the War on Terror, patriotic organizations like Move America Forward or military recruiters not given a chance to present their views to these schools?
Part of the problem is the activism of several school board members. Dan Kelley, who serves on the San Francisco School Board, was jailed for war resistance during the Vietnam War. Dan Siegel of the Oakland School Board was another 1960's activist, as he proudly notes in his biography. David Horowitz mentioned how Siegel led the charge to tear down a fence around a lot a UC Berkeley which became known as "Peoples Park."
Parents and concerned citizens must hold school officials, as well as local school boards, responsible for these one-sided views being rammed in the minds of their children. They should also demand that voices that support our troops and their mission be allowed the same access as the anti-American Leftists are freely given.
No wonder Hillary Rotten Clinton, Teddy "Chappaquiddick Kid" Kennedy and Upchuck Schumer were speaking at these rallies today, organized by anti-American Leftist groups. There's a method to their madness. They don't need new ideas, they don't need to reach out to voters to give a reason to vote for them. They're trolling these protests for future voters in an effort to regain majority status in Congress, plus the White House in 2008. That's why the Party of Treason wants to give the vote to non-citizens, as well as felons.
Need more proof? Here's part of KPIX-TV Channel 5's local coverage.
"What organizers agree on is the need to convert energy from protests into massive voter registration drives.
Voter registration and citizenship education initiatives are set to begin in several states after a "Day Without An Immigrant" campaign planned for May 1, an event which asks immigrants nationwide to stay home from work and school, and refrain from buying American products.
'Marches will only get you so far,' said Armando Navarro, coordinator of the National Alliance for Human Rights, an umbrella organization for Hispanic activist groups in Southern California. 'There has to be an electoral component to get the Republicans out of the majority.'"

But if that was the case, I'd be giving it to him every week.
What can you say about a city government where they openly shun the military, call for the impeachment of the President because he's protecting America, attack the police and attack the Catholic Church (did I leave anything out?).
Now, Sandoval, as well as the goofy Mayor Gavin Newsome have made it clear they will ignore any federal laws that would criminalize illegal aliens.
What else is new in San Francisco? If there's a state or federal law they don't like, to Hell with it, they’re not going to obey it.
If that is the attitude of the City Government of San Francisco, then they should pay a price. For starters, cut off all State or Federal Funds to the City. If you want to go further, since most of the City hates President Bush and Governor Schwarzenegger anyway, how about jailing the Mayor or City Officials for refusing to follow the law? I've seen it done in other cities, why not in San Francisco?
Such lawlessness is not tolerated from regular citizens. It should not be tolerated by public servants.

But it was too good to be true. Behind closed doors last night, Bill Frist, as usual, caved in.
It has happened before, with his threats to break the judicial filibuster broken by the Gang of 14 Deal. It has happened in key legislation, like energy, where RINO's have given the Democrat minority in the Senate.
Even though he is not seeking re-election, Bill Frist should step down now as Senate Majority Leader, because he has been ineffective in promoting conservatism and party discipline among Republicans in the U.S. Senate. Instead, he has let the Democrat minority and RINOs like John McClame, Arlen Specter and Schmuck Hagel run the U. S. Senate.
Frist's cave-in on "immigration reform" is the last straw in my book. Republicans in the Senate need a leader who stands on principle and enforces party discipline, not a eunuch who follows the whims of the minority. They need it soon, as they are rapidly alienating their base in an important election year.
And they are blowing it bad right now.

The students gathered at a Donut shop on Redwood Boulevard for their "protest" but Novato Police told the IJ that the students weren't carrying signs or banners.
So how does the Novato Unified School District plan to handle this?
Suspension for these wanna-be activists?
Are you kidding?
Novato Superintendent Jan La Torre-Derby told the IJ that the district hoped to provide a forum for students to discuss the issue without cutting school and heading for the donut shop for coffee and a sugar rush.
There's your taxpayer dollars at work in Novato, CA.
Speaking of how your tax dollars are spent educating Novato's children, here's what they were teaching at Rancho Elementary School last month. No it wasn't American history. March 10th was Multicultural Day.
A source told Marooned in Marin that students at Rancho, some in costumes from different cultures, had to stand outside in 50 degree weather for the event. The invited speaker gave the shivering students the "one people" "one world" platitudes of the multicultural crowd.
So instead of teaching their students pride in America, the administration at Rancho is pushing the globalist "one world" agenda on their young minds. No wonder many children in Marin County grow up to lead resistance to military recruiters or other forms of far-Left activism.
The people behind the 500,000 rally a couple of weeks ago in L.A., as well as upcoming boycotts on April 10 and (surprise!) May 1 (May Day) is none other than International ANSWER. As mentioned here and elsewhere, ANSWER is a front group for the Stalinist Workers World Party led by former LBJ Attorney General Ramsey Clark, who is also one of Saddam Hussein's defense attorneys.
The Times story mentions that:
"ANSWER's steering committee includes the Free Palestine Alliance, the Partnership for Civil Justice, the Nicaragua Network, the Korea Truth Commission, the Muslim Student Association, the Mexico Solidarity Network and the Party for Socialism and Liberation. It denounces as racism attempts to criminalize illegal aliens. "
Just like their comrade Cynthia McKinney, ANSWER's answer to their ideological opponents is to scream "racism."
At first, I thought ANSWER was jumping on the OBL (open-borders lobby) in order to get more people to attend their hate-America and Israel rallies, since their numbers are down. But ANSWER is simply showing another way how much it hates America. In their eyes, America is not worth defending nor is there any value on becoming an American. They see open borders as their ticket to undermine America and bring it down from within.
If you want to see and hear some disturbing rhetoric, go see this video at Immigration Watchdog.
