Today's IJ editorial "Joe Nation Should Run on his Record" defended extreme-leftist Lynn Woolsey from accusations Nation made against her in Monday's IJ.
Nation, a liberal Democrat who is Marin's outgoing State Assemblyman, accused Woolsey of taking several privately funded trips. He also attacked her record of voting against pay increases for the military, yet voting for pay raises for her and other Congressmen. He is running against Woolsey in the Democratic Primary for her Congressional seat.
To the IJ Editorial board, Nation's accusations are "slinging mud." However, her voting record against the members of our military and breaking a promise not to take privately funded trips should be considered fair game.
This is not the first time the IJ Editorial Board has taken Woolsey's side. The paper showed courage in February 2004 by reporting how she wrote a letter of reference for the rapist of a 17 year-old Terra Linda girl. Yet, once Woolsey apologized, it was good as gold for the IJ's Editorial Board and they endorsed her re-election in the 2004 primary and general election.
Shame on the IJ Editorial Board!
